Hi all at the end of this year i get to make my own part from composites I was thinking about doing a roof for my car until the tutor told me a couple of student in the past made something then made loads of them and sold them on making enough money to put them though the next year.

So I want to steal their idea basicly so am doing a bit of market research to what you want to see? It can be only a single item but can be finished in any colour or in carbon or even carbon kevlar it also doesn't have to be mini explicit
I have a couple of ideas and nearer the time ill post a poll with the top few but like I said bit of market research really

I think if your looking to make something profitable your going to have to look away from the minis really.

106 S2 bonnet would be a good way to go in my opinion.

I've always wanted a carbon works dash.

honestly though if you get together some products which people are interested in, and do a poll to find the most popular i'm sure you could get a lot of customers on here. i'd be interested to see what you come up with.

Carbon but plug?

I don't want to do anything to over complicated and that would sell like 5 :/
And doesn't have to be mini specific but I would prefer to do that :)

How complex can the shape be and what composites are you using (I'm thinking of temperature limitations) ???

A carbon roof would be good, not to bothered about quality of finish as I would paint it, but something bloody strong would be nice.

Honestly I can use pretty much anything but obviously more exotic the composites the more I would have to spend so the higher end price
As for complex I have about 80 hours in uni to do it and about 120 extra outside so almost as complex as you like really

And the other thing I forgot is it could be made to order
E.g carbon / glass / carbon kevlar
And can have clear gel coat or coloured

This is just a project piece aswell if it was sold on after aswell I would consider making a few more molds and selling a larger variety of things

If its looking at conversions maybe something for VTEC b16 or red top? Then can be sold for a wide market

If you could make sure the rocker cover cleared high lift rockers, and had a rubber seal rather then that stupid cork thing you would be onto a winner. - Shotgun a cut of the profits for that one!
