An = American National thread

Npt = National pipe thread

Nptt = Tapered Npt

Bsp = British pipe thread

Bspt = Tapered BSP

BSP and NPT are near enough the same, they are only one pitch out per inch.

NA is just another way of naming the UNC, UNF threads!
-4 would be 7/16" UNC
-6 would be 9/16" UNC
-8 would be 3/4" UNC

The first time I saw that pic I pointed out the 1/4NPT mistake back in 2006, yet the error still remains to confuse all and sundry *hehe!*

Right o Answer me this.

why are spark plug threads Metric?

While you decide on the answer, consider this. The A series has been in production since early 1950's and has always had metric plug threads. Also Consider that an American flat head V8 motor uses metric plug threads.

American; Metric! WTF?

Are you sure it is BSP? I recalled it to be 1/8 NPT?

Refrigeration fittings are NPT, I used refrigeration fittings and hoses as the oil feed on the 16 valver, and threads were deformed on the brass fittings. when I say deformed, I mean that part of the thread is stripped off creating a very sharp shard of metal that is some what painful to remove from your fingers. Therefor the thread in the block is likely to be BSP

With the very close thread pitch similarity most people do not notice, will go un noticed and work perfectly well for the application it is being used

This is my experience :)

I am happy to be wrong :)

I thought that it was 1/8 BSPT, but 1/8 BSP fits (I can confirm this)
