Id love to do a VTEC. Maybe one day. Might have to get a nice VTEC put aside if i ever come across one, and a clubby shell....

Turbo defo comes first though.

doing my turbo conversion was painstaking enough i cant imagine how much worse doing a vtec would be, and i dont really wanna find, im gonna stick my turbo plus it sounds more impressive down the pub mentioning you got a turbo mini cooper lol

the only reason i said it is you can buy a DIY kit and wondered if anyone had took it on??

Turbo does sound good when you here all the problems people have

Ooo they dont see off 206xsi's do they..... best get one!!

Think they'll see off a lot more than that!!

Years of practice and patience makes him quick.....

To be honest i cant remember what times the vtec's were running at avon. i know i was suprised that they werent doing better. Not saying that they were running bad times mind!!!! *smiley*

my car when it had the std 1275 in it would of seen off a 206xsi

you can get the kit but im sure alot of work would still be required.

what you need is a B16, something out of a civic vti, or crx vtec, ive got an engine you can buy for ?450, no box or ecu

you could get alot more power out of one than a aseries, but you never see them any quicker.

what would be good is a B20B out of a crv with a b16 vtec head on it, 200bhp instantly and for around ?1500

not sure on the engine numbers but a chap i know has got an integra type R lump in his mini, plus a few other little bits and bobs done to it and is putting out 235bhp. still think he only managed about a 15sec 1/4 at avon 03 though. but he did go 1st, 2nd, 5th on 3 of his runs *happy*

Definately the way i would go though if i wanted a full on engine transplant, prefer em to the chavalier lumps anyway. It'd have to be in a clubby front though if i was to do one, never really been a big fan of the extended fronts for the roundnose.

greypride your standard 1275 must of been quick what was that

i'd be happy with the turbo but something tells me when i start driving it somethings going to and quick i want to build or get another engine that can take it cos i don't think mine can take it just being standard and put a turbo on it!!

Anyone got any ideas what i should do i don''t really think i've got the skill to rebuild one cos you have to tork everything down and all but what would be a good thing to buy and where from???

I'd say rebuilding an A-Series is simpler than doing a VTEC conversion.
Have you got a Haynes manual ?

do the turbo, its the most impressive, and once youve done something once on the a series you know how to do it again

just dont wind up the boost to high

the engine came out of 60k metro, cost me ?60, i didnt even change the oil in it, it would burn most things, my proudest moment was killing my friends escort gti (k+n, exhuast, no cat, chipped e.t.c), 1.6 colt (similar) and a 1.3 fiesta (ignore that one) whilst having a passenger with me off the lights

or there was the time i over took a train

so many good moments, hmmmm i may pop that engine back into something

integra type r is a B18 but your looking at atleast ?1500 for just the engine, and that wont have as much torque as the b20 conversion and will cost you more to tune

ive been keeping bad company with honda friends for too long

I dont know what my 2p is worth on here, being a novice and all, I've not even been in a turbo mini yet.

But, my daily hack is a vtec, they're awesome, if you fancy it, do it. The noise is amazing, but then maybe not as good as a dump valve?

Most 1600vtec minis run 14.8 or slower... Only ONE vtec mini has cracked 14 secs; Tony Wells. Four (?) turbos that we know of have already done this... For grunt, fun, ease, and cheapness, do the turbo - For high miles, do the Vtec. Simple.

save up as much as you can, then send away your engine to get it rebuilt and uprated by a GOOD specialist

dont run it at stupidly high levels, and dont thrash it all the time, keep it to 120 brake
