These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I've said it before on this subject, what's the point?

It won't be eligable for any motorsport, it'll just be an expensive way to to fit a non-mini engine in a mini.

You'd be better fitting a bike engine. Especially if you want your engine to be relaible and have longevity.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Yes I understand the advantages over the iron block, but to what end? so you can go faster at a track day? so you can go faster on the road?

It's not a problem to build an all iron A-series that you will never use the full potential of in a Mini.

Any advantage that it may have for racing are void as it's not elligable for anything, and if it were then I could go and find somenthing better for 1/2 the price.

It wouldn't even be elligable for Class D at avon.

if its externally the same as an iron block it is eligable for mod prod in hillclimb and sprint

This is a bad interpretation of the rules. The rules state:

"The engine block must be externally identifiable as that fitted to the original model or specified option..."

So even if it looks the same it is not eligible.

As far as I understand it there is nothing stopping you changing the block material

The new regs I believe allow this
Blue Book - pg 328 - [ S . 10.10 ] ".......as appropriate , modifications are free . "

The chances of creating an ally block that looks the same as an iron block is slim. It would be all floppy *hehe!*

i think im with Ben on this one, real good idea, but overall, what is the point?
where will gains per ££ be shown? may keep cool a little better, but thats not a real issue these days,it'l look nice, but so does a bike engine....

Good technical excercise but IMHO a bit pointless. If you have a-series car and want something modern and ally lob modern engine in there.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I think you could use it in hillclimbing aswell.

As long as it looked exactly the same from the outside.... but thats the problem. I dont think you could make one look the same.
