disconect the oil pressure light wire for a min,give that a go,
if it does start then it means your oil pressure is super low,(25psi?).

do you have a constant flow of fuel coming into the carb?
if you pull the fuel pipe into it, does fuel come out?

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Disconnecting the oil pressure switch won't help. You need to disconnect it and short the wire to earth to get the fuel pump to run.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

check the compression ratio, first! the head gasket may be blown, making you go down the wrong track ?

if alls well, ant all other things check out, like valve clearences, timing, etc.... you may find the mixture too weak or too rich especially when you rev it it black smokes if too rich,

hope this helps, keep us informed

Check the wiring for the oil pressure switch & light.

The metro turbo powers the fuel pump when one of two things happens:

* the starter is running.
* there is oil pressure.

Sounds like the wiring for or the oil pressure switch itself isn't right.

Have you tried changing the carb balance pipe for a new piece of fuel hose? Have you still got the anti-run on valve fitted?

Sounds like fuel.

As boost rises, is the fuel pressure rising 3-4 psi above boost ?

To check, fit a tee piece between the FPR and carb, then run a fuel line up out of the bonnet through the bonnet vent and fit a fuel pressure gauge on it so that you can see the gauge through the screen when driving (cable tie to a wiper arm or somut).

Take it for a drive and as boost rises, check that the needle on the fuel pressure gauge rises 3-4 psi more than boost. If not, readjust the FPR to give 3-4 psi at idle and re-check.

If, no matter how many adjustments you make, the fuel pressure does not rise in advance of the boost you are running then the FPR is most likely FUBAR and your engine will continually lean out, not develop power as boost rises and you could potentially end up burning a piston, valve, plug etc so worth getting the FPR properly set up my friend.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

My metro did this I'm sure it was the fuel pump relay, it would pump on crank and then not when running. It was enough to start and drive down the road a little way.
