I have searched untill i cant see straight and now run out of time i have to go to bed!

I really want to find the intercooler some one had that was the same shape and size of the grill on a round nose but i am sure the grill could still be fitted over it but did need megajolt and a little altenator.

I have no idea whos it was and i hope they dont mind me trying to copy but i really do like the idea, i dont want to see the intercooler with the grill on.

hope someone can help. Dan

possibly mine you are thinking of, although i do remember someone else on here having a nice shiny silver once which seemed to fit the grill gap almost perfectly so might be that one you are thinking of.

if you search for TD5 you'll find a pic of Jim's old TD5 set up, mine has been modified in the same way with a new end cap fitted but dont have any decent pics of it i can find atm.

edit: just found a couple of pics. never ran mine with a grill though but did have a distributor so had to 'bend' the intercooler slightly.

I does fit, but I've had to space the grille away from the body slightly since fitting the mk1 grille.

Then the answer for the microwave oven...............

1: what altanator to use? (Matiz?)

2: were do you get the intercooler?

Very nice install indeed

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Alternator is a Nippon Denso from Matty.

Intercooler is from allard. One of the end tanks had to be modified to clear the rad.

I think the one ian mentioned is the one I am thinking of, however seeing the td5 one and searching more on it I think that is the one I am going to go for so wanted add will be up straight after this.
By the way none of jimsters pics seem to work in any of the threads, would anyone happen to have them to hand? I would really like to see more pics.
Thanks for all the help!

Dan

The TD5 intercooler sucks. If you take a look inside it, the only reason it works is because of its physical size. There is very little internal area.

Is it really that bad Dave? I couldn't find that much about it on here only that jimster had good results? What would be a good direction to go? I really do not want holes in the bonnet and I don't want to be able to see it once finished and I have inner wings.

Thanks. Dan

I would have thought the large frontal area would have acted as an advantage over a deep, narrow one of the same volume. Or are the airways (or whatever their called) a bit on the small side?

John, what intercooler is that and where could I get one from?

The one eyed lizard, is there anything that can be moved to get the grill to fit? Do you have a smaller alternator? Also where is the cooler from and where?

Thanks. Dan

As above...

It does fit when using a late style front grille. It's the mk1 style that needs spacing slightly.

I'm in a similar position to dan, I'm on the look out for a nice intercooler to go behind the grill as I'm not a fan of my cossie cooler install, I'm thinking of moving my distributer somewhere else and getting a smaller altenator, where is the best place to put the dizzy?

Put the dizzy in the bin and get megajolt. You can't move them as they run from a sprocket on the cam through that particular hole in the block.

I missed that post lizard! I have a mk1 grill, how much does it need spacing? Is it noticeable? I just don't want it to look any different.
That is a nice shot wolfie will look for more pics of your cooler.

Thanks. Dan
By the way I will be getting Megajolt and doing away with dizzy.

Well, it's behind the grille in this pic, so not too obvious...

It's probably 15mm from the bodywork in the worst area. I've taken some of this out with a rubber strip.
