Yo.
Hopefully my rebuild should start in about two weeks, and im just making a list of all the bits i need.

So far on the list:

Pistons + rods + rings (all coming from Tom)
Rod Bolts?
Big End Bearings

and that's about as far as i've got.. lol
Obviously i'm going to get the block honed and bored, and the head worked..

anything else i need to get?

Ouch, thanks for all the info guys, slightly encouraging the bits that we do have, but I haven't even heard of some of those parts! And I'm not a complete amateur/girl (read that as you will)!

Yes 4 off like mark says. Two of them have a lug on them in the centre of the radius pointing outwards. That locates in a cutout in the bearing cap. When you dismantle your engine you will easily spot them, they control the endfloat of the crank which needs to be checked using feeler gauges and adjusted to get it within spec limits.

EDIT

One side is faced with a copper colour material. This is the bearing surface and fits FACING the crank. The back-side is plain steel and fits against the block/bearing cap.

that's correct. Steel to the block, copper to the crank.

Well remembered Mark...

Imperial tap set to 'chase' out all the threads in the block.
Also, modify the area in the water pump housing as shown in the vizard book...

You also need a set of the brass bungs from the main oil gallery - you must knock these out, and clean the oil gallery till it is spotless.
Best tools are:
1) stiff paintbrushes - 1" - to make them stiffer, cut the bristles off such that they are around 10cm long!
2) 1 gallon of Celly thinners
3) somethign like this:
http://i20.ebayimg.com/01/i/03/92/ec/14_0.JPG

You can get proper engine cleaning brushes, or similar items from a gun shop, but basically, a stiff bottle brush will do. look in tesco's, wilko's, etc and see what you can find! Stiffer the better!

Cleanliness is EVERYTHING! I usually spend a full evening cleaning the block, crank rods and pistons alone! I know others don't, but I do!*laughing*

I find test tube bottle brushes are good for cleaning the galleries out with, if you know someone that works in a lab easy to get hold of as well.

Wilkos do a bottle brush but I found the central metal spiral a bit too bulky.
