Hi All,

Just called HIC to renew insurance on my clubby and its gone up £65 with no alterations, no claims no nothing.

I know insurance has gone up in general but can anyone on here just splat some company names to me that they have had success with getting good prices for turbo'd minis?

Cheers,
John

According to my mate who works for Zurich, insurance companies make commision off of new customers but not renewals. So if you were to take out a new policy with the same company it would be cheaper than renewing apparently.

If it's modified then try Sky insurance, they only cover modded and imports and they were over £1000 cheaper than Flux for Vader.

Cheers Jo. Might give them a bell. Car is off road so I may just let it expire and do some shopping when I have more time.

everyone at work I have spoken to has had their insurance go up in the last 6months. My daily drive an extra £120, with no changes from me. I looked about and everything was the same.

Its a cartel...

Not as much of a shock as the current fuel prices, been on holiday and came back to a fair shock, everyone cashing in on the VAT rise...

I bought a 20 year old metro just before christmas for £75. 1.1 3 door. Nothing special. Just a basic runabout so i can do an overhaul on the mini.
I try almost every insurance company i can find, even tempory insurance and hardly any of them will insure me! Cheepest i got was £350!
Money is very tight at the moment as ive just moved into my new house on my own. so now ive had to resort to taking the mini off the road and using a push bike.

If insurance companys and the government wanted to push people off the road its working on me! :(

That's because you crossed from one quotation bracket to another.

People who are in the brackets where their risk doesnt change significantly (for the better) will feel it the most.

You need to have at least 2 years driving experience for them to insure you.

I've insured 3 different cars in the last few months all gone up 100 to 200. One went up 200 over night so I left it for about a month until it came back down around 100. I was told that the insurance comps are part of the banks and they are trying to pull some money back. Looks like motorist is paying again.

john on my clubby they put the insurance up nearly 200 quid i told them to let it run till the end and ill shop around, when i phoned them back later that day they had an 'excellent offer' ( there words) basically same cover for last years price. Fair enough i said and i hadnt even phoned anyone else lol

I just tried them, I'm not expecting great things as my car now has so many modifications the bloke I was talking too said he would have to contact the underwriters directly to get a quote.

can you only use your no claims for one policy?

so if you were to insure a second car, you would need to start up another set of no claims. even if you have 5 years ncb on a differnt policy?

you can only use them on one policy, but companies can mirror the no claims so don't forget to ask.

i see.

its all 1 big con realy!!

but i will definatly ask the question and make myself clear!!

i had trouble when i used my 'no claims' from my mini when i took it off the road as they were 'classic no claims'!!! they were demanding an extra £800 after 4months i paid them in full the agreed price!! or £360 to cancel the policy. that was mymotorquote.com......never again!!
i soon told them were to go!

sorry to go off topic

Can anyone explain this to me?

Why is a standard, boring diesel peugeot 300 quid more to insure then a desirable, stealable, modified crx. The crx being worth twice that of the boring shed.

Its all a bloody farce it really is.
