hi, ordered my new engine today, i was gonna get an old one for now, but thought i may as well go the hole hog straight away,

1293cc Full spec TURBO engine, Fully worked weged & Bladed crank, A+ Race prepared rods ARP Bolts, FORGED Omega 15cc pistons, T2 Avonbar cam, Steel duplex, Fully modified 30cc head, 1.5 roller rockers, 4-spd S/Cut box, S/Cut drops, U/lite steel f/w & b/p, Bonded clutch,

what do you think of the spec?

gonna run 22-25psi on a garratt t25.

probably going to get a recon turbo from mirage motorsports.

what intercooler would you guys reccomend for running this spec?

also, i assume i will need to make modifications to the plenum? if i do, what would need doing?

finally, spoke to avonbar about getting a carb nedle and actuator, but they can only do me one for up to 18 psi, can you reccomend anywhere i can get these from?

many thanks

dave.

ps. sorry about all the questions. thought id get them out of the way in one topic, rather than keep putting new ones up

Peter Baldwin is widely acknowledged as one of the UK's premier rolling road setup gurus.

Do a search on the forum on rolling road setups and I am sure his name will pop up a lot.

PS How do you plan to keep a reliable head gasket in it running 25psi???

Dave, are you implying that Mark has run more than 15psi boost on his engine.. He told me that BIR1 occationally exceeded 10psi up the strip. It was mostly used for shopping he told me..
Mark??

apparently, the engine has been up and running, and figures are: 140 bhp at 12psi, and 197bhp at 20psi, does this sound about right to you guys? hopefully will be able to take it over that 200bhp mark without too many difficulties.

the only thing that slightly worries me is how long the engine is likely to last, assuming i keep the boost down most of the time, it should wear ok shouldn't it? also, with the needle in the carb again, would this need to be changed if i run the boost at say 12psi normally? but then want to whack it right up on occasion?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

how are you intending to use this car? if daily then id say dont bother! i really wouldnt.

expect frequent maintenance as many guys on here running a lot of power do.

i pointed out maintanance, not fixing things when they break, prevention is better than the cure *wink*

140bhp at 12psi sounds feasible. But getting over the 200bhp mark from what I have read is not just a case of more boost, have a look at Miniwilliams site he has over 200bhp but it has taken years of work and lots of money no doubt to get there, the same goes for others with high bhp such as Jon.
