I have noticed a load of cooper s chargers coming up for sale, are they easy enough to fit to an A series (with a bit of fabrication) I am running an mg metro 1275 would the compression ratio be ok? |

Vmax already do the conversion kits.

sorry but I think Vmax are having a laugh with the price of that kit ?2k+!!!!! you can pick the chargers up for less than ?100 and even with the manifold fabrications and pully setup that is ott IMHO.

its not the head, its the pistons you need to worry about. most heads have the same chamber size until modded |

I have to agree, I feel that 2k for the supercharger kit it is waaay high, as you say its possible to pick up a 'charger for peanuts on ebay, and the kit just uses a 1.75" su. still think it steep though. I got my t3 rebuilt at the turbotechnics with 360 thrust beraing for 500 notes, and my head for 550 from SRE, carb and manifolds were 40 quid and intercooler set up was 70 quid, fuel pump and reg were 40 quid, zorst down pipe 40, bulkhead box was 50 as was the oil feed. that totals 1340 by my maths!

bear in mind he cant just lob any 2nd hand stuff on, carbs etc have to be rebuilt, add an air filter adds a few quid. plus he modds the supercharger to fit etc. RR session thats included... the list goes on

I think the kit looks very good value, as already said Stuart had to develop the kit himself. So think of all the time he spend researching and developing before he could even put it on the market.

OK having read the comments above I would like to retract my comment reguarding the price as I did not realise the kit came with a modded head.

you'll probably find that you can easily spend a whole lot more than a vmax supercharger conversion when turbocharging

what can i say , just came across this thread and most of the questions have been answered, because i offer a wide fitting range ,from race kits see Ian Johnson 's twini mini , lhd ,injection, minisprint, or road use with carb- with or without servo- , all use diferent manifold and pulley setups , each one is made by me test fitted to an engine if sold in kit form ensure fit , to suit customers engine /car configuration. It takes me 6 days to make the full kit up inc head , time is money , I stand by what i make and believe its good value for money/ power gained / ease of fit /reliabillity

touch wood (not cloth), fingers crossed my new improved demo min should be at avon park - its not out and out race but - 93 mini cooper all standard car except for budget 165's , 1293 cc 36x31 head ,286 cam ,m45 supercharger , charge cooled ,emerald injection /ignition ,helical 4 speed box and wait for it ...2.7 cwp - at least i'll be cruising at 90-100 on the way there ,whether its on the way back as well is another matter!

IIRC the Bini blower at 0.5 bar gets a maximum efficiency of 64%. Twin Screw blowers are looking about 84% and Turbos in the 80's. I suppose you could use a 2 stage series setup with a bonnet bulge! to get the bigger boosts. Bugger off, I'm getting there. |
