Just got back from the first competative event in the car.

Had a great day, car ran fautlessly except that on the last run the crank sensor connection gat mangled in the fanbelt, an easy fix.

I ran a 48.4 second run, around .5s slower than the hill record (which is mine). Not too bad as I never really pushed the limits, concentrating on smooth runs and lots of logging.

We had altered the fuelling following the rr to try and improve pickup, and it worked, car was very progressive and much more consistant out of the haipins than the old engine.

Ben should post some photos later.

Excellent! Wont be long before you are smashing that record!

Sounds good.

We're going sprinting with Allan and some of the other 16v mini club lads later in the year. Show them what a shitty old metro van with a 'gay series' engine can do *smiley*

Well done, must be very pleased for the first competitive run on the new engine. Were there any areas you thought the car ran better or worse than the old set up?

there may be some more video later, but unfortunately I only got the camera out later in the day, just as the car broke. Oh well.

Really pleased with the way it ran. All credit to Wil for putting it together so well. Lots of data to go through now to see how we can improve things.

Was a great day, apart from our mini`s steering column snaping on the last run!Nevermind we`ll be back next time with something stronger no doubt.Great to meet both Ben and Will with that pocket rocket. One guys comment was, well it doesn`t look like an A series engine!

Here is a quick video of of the minis from the day. Unfortunately bot of Wil's runs are the ones with problems. The first you see is where a boost hose blew off (you can hear it on the film) and the second is the start of the crank sensor problem.

Enjoy
