ok started playing with my car today ready for the rebuild aiming for the famous 200bhp break, and was wandering what i should do to my carb, i notice avonbar do a 12 psi needle is this the same needle used for 20 psi or is it modified any other comments on carbs would be great also.

You're not going to be able to buy a needle off the shelf. Every engine varies dependent on cam choice, timing, compression, boost etc etc. Every modification will make a difference to the needle profile. Your going to have to build your engine and get along to a decent rolling road with an operator who really know A-Series Turbos and knows how to set-up an SU.

I was lucky to get quite an accurate one from avonbar for mine, but will be different if i say, fit a larger head.

Mine does overfuel a hell of alot at 3,200 rpm though, its always driven below that though.

cheers guys is there any other upgrades i should do while the carb is off, can they be rebuilt bearing there sealed units never got that bit

yes they can, i have rebuild kits in stocks with new bearings, seals, shafts and a plain butterfly so that dump valve works correctly

Nothing special!

just use a b needle gav then get it to the rollers mate that way she will be good for the emmision test

about bloody time gav, oh buy the way the new clutch arms are bloody good but you need to look at the angle agai i think its to close to the bell housing thus loosing some throw, every thing else is new and at times can be a bit crunchy through the gears especially when doing quick gear changes
