Hey guys, should be getting a metro turbo lump this weekend, was wondering how much its cost you guys to get your engines reconditioned both doing it yourself and employing a company to do the work for you. Also does anybody know where standard metro turbo pistons are readily available and how much for? Assuming you guys change the pistons when you recon the engine.

if your going to the trouble of rebuilding the full engine, forget standard pistons, get some 1293cc pistons, the 10cc cast omegas are very good, take your block and pistons and get the block bored out

I was kind of hoping to keep the costs down as money tends to come in drips and drabs haha On 10th Mar, 2012 theoneeyedlizard said:

Theres an engineering company near me that could bore it out - what would I tell them "its a 1275 atm and id like it to be 1293" Cheers yeh i wanted it bored plus '20 for these pistons, because the pistons wont be exactly plus 20 |

You buy pistons and take them the block and the pistons. They will measure the block and pistons and bore appropriately.

I'm in the process of getting parts for building a turbo motor. I must have spent about £800 already including the price of the engine, and thats using all used parts pretty much. I still don't have everything i need, but if you're frugal you can pick up some real bargains here and there. I picked up an RS Turbo intercooler off ebay for a fiver last week! Though im new to turbo'ing id say if you don't have all the bits already and you're on a budget, you'll be looking at around a grand to build the motor, more if you're going to rebore it. With regards to the re-bore if I go to 1293 will I still use the standard headgasket or will I have to use an enlarged one? Cheers most people use the BK450 |

Any chance of a breakdown of how you come to that price? If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

im guessing your guaranteeing the engine to be in good nick. You'll need to look at the crank, crank shells etc check for wear. Look at all the parts that can wear out. |
