Southern Norway.

Lol no, if anything at all they would make the spool up slower, and be a air restrictor :)

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

yes it would just slow things up unless it was the size of a shed

why dont you test it without one on a rolling road, then fit one and get it tested again the same day if possible. (i dont know what they are)

The idea is to get the air to swirl in the same direction as the turbo goes, so it doesn't have to do as much job. Essentially just makes it harder for it, it's like going upstream a river with a propelled engine :)

I've seen someone use a mesh in front of turbo, to straighten the air before it gets in though.

Our turbo machines use a similar principle, which starts the gas rotating before it enters the eye of the wheel.

That's interesting. But surely to make the air change direction requires energy, so it needs to save more than it takes to get it turning.

Without proper aero testing I think it would be a bit risky to fit on a car, may actually do more harm than good

Any decent medium/large compressor (and pumps as well) use inlet guide vanes to shape the flow path into the impellor wheel(s).

But I think there is quite a difference between doing the flow shaping right next to the compressor wheel/impellor compared to a mile away down a piece of pipe.

Interesting article here in relation to turbocharger compressors...

Germini, black forrest

Similar system are used in 'dusty' countrys to separate dust from the intake air, sort of a centrifugal pre-filter :)
