looks like the block and head have been acid dipped given the cleanliness around the plug holes and various bosses...

Mine always sticks, used hammerite last time. first it went soft but it had only been on about 12hrs. after that it went rock solid and stayed there all the time the engine was in.

i do love the look of that rocker cover, i thought powder coted when i saw it aswell, is this megga expensive i see the clutch cover is done like that as well and looks great.

The paint on my head/block always used to bubble/flake. I found it was moisture in the block from cleaning it.

how od i clean it properly? so far i have used petrol ina spray bottle and it has got verry thick grease off but its still got the old paint on wich is in suprising good condition for 15 year old motor but its just not red enough for me lol or should i just paint over the paint thats left?

Petrol leaves a residue when it evaporates. You need to get some of that degreaser that sprayers use before the first coat to get rid of greases and the like...

wot i did with my motor was when it was in bits i used a wire brush grindign wheel in a grinder (of course!!) and it went back to bare metal before i repainted it in a nice shade of blue.

Hammerite is my choice, used it on a number of different A series engines and its never come off and lasted well.

yeah hammertite is good if you give it cure time, if not, just dont touch your engine first time it gets hot then leave it to cool. Seems to bake it on well. |

even better get some pannel wipe its alcohol bassed and dries in seconds so much still left on even after the thinners has evaporated love that straight cut scream!!!
