You need a restrictor in the actuator feed.

Put it in the feed pipe before the bleed valve. I find a 1.5mm one works well.

Be warned though, it will cause a slight spike in your boost as it ramps up. I run 12psi, but see 15 occasionally as the boost ramps up and the restrictor dosent enable the actuator to move quick enough.

would some sort of crimp in the pipe do the job?

Yes a crimp would work, but it would be difficult to control how big the or small you make it.

use a jubilee clamp. then you can tighten it a bit at a time until it works as you want.

Try some more preload. Half a hole is around standard.

Before we put a restrictor inline on the van we could only manager 8-9psi. We have found that an old dizzy vac pipe has an OD of 3mm and an ID of 1.5mm. Slots nicely in the vac hose before the bleed valve (we have clamped the pipe down to make sure the bit of hose doesn't slip into the bleed valve) and we can now get 17psi with 1 full turn on the bleed valve.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

put a narrower restrictor in it pre-avon John boy. 17 psi is not enough *wink*

ok so ive checked my preload (all fine) got a tiny restrictor in (1-1.5 mm) ish and still on 12ish psi.

ive got one of those stupid brass bleed valves. could this be a problem?

As a test you could pull the hose off the actuator and then go for a quick run. Build the boost and see if you can get over 12psi. If so then its down to either your restrictor not being small enough or your bleed valve.

If it doesn't go about 12psi it's likely that your wastegate is being pushed open by exhaust pressure and that your actuator spring isn't strong enough to hold it shut.

EDIT: BE CAREFUL NOT TO LET THE BOOST GO BONKERS OR YOU MAY MULLER YOUR ENGINE.
THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS.
