Im currently selling the vaux mini. It's it a 1.4 8v engine in it and the lad who wants to buy it and has fell in love with it has been quoted £9k to insure it.

im insured with adrian flux on the turbo, but insurance has gone up this year, still a lot less than £9K though. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs

at the time, 18 years old, 1 year ncb, standard metro turbo engine (at the time) £2800 3rd party fire and theft. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs

Afraid so Iain, its madness. Average price for an 18yo male is £2500, and thats for a shopping cart not anything fruity.

I'll tell them to try flux then I guess. I remember paying £600 for my £40 escort when I was 17 and that seemed a fortune!! |

insurance now is a joke, average price for the usual 18yo car, corsas fiesta's saxo's, is £2000+, my mate got quoted £4800 for a 1.4 zetec fiesta, he wasnt gonna pay that so now has a mini and insuranced with footman james. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs

His problem will be that insurance companies won't see a vauxhall engine transplant as a small modification, no matter how straight forward it might be. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

footman james will only sure very very mildly modded cars, cant see them insuring a vaux. mini, they wouldnt insure me with my turbo. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs

Ok. Glad its not me insuring at that age! Cost me £300, full breakdown cover, fully comp, all mods etc! |

Wording stuff better can help, for exaple a rollage is a "safety" cage etc. If u have a fire extinguisher tell them, itl probably help. On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

Good thing about turbo motors is you could do a dyno run with say 1psi boost get tiny power, get a prinout for the insurance and then turn it up a bit and do the real one On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

When I first insured my mini bog standard 9years ago when I was 17 it was around £1k third party. Now it's on £175 will all mods. |
