I think it applies after 2013, which is when I'll stop watching, not subscribing to Sky.

It reads as if it starts next year, ie, as if BBC have sold out of their contract before its 2013 expiry.

I too will not pay for Sky so I too will stop watching.

No, it'll be shitter because it'll have adverts, it won't have the BBC team, which at the moment is pretty good, AND you'll have to fooking pay for it AND stick a dish on your house.

Hopefully Ecclescake will get put away for the dodgy dealings he did flogging bits of FOM and get ritually bummed for all his 'good' work.

makes no difference to me, i don't watch it anyway. Even if I did, And even though I already have the dish, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to pay extra

Hmmm, a sad day for F1 :(
I really enjoy the current style with all the pre quali/race articles and Martin is a great commentator as he has been there and has some technical knowledge.
I wonder if this will change eddies and jakes opinion of bernie as he's most likely caused them a rather large paycut.

I was actually getting interested again in F1, now that Pirelli are making the tyres last longer and pitstop undercuts were becoming less achievable/relevant.

What still spoils F1 for me is that a twat like Bernie has for his whole life made excessive amounts of money out of the sport.

From what ive heard bbc are not getting the viewing figures they need from F1 to warrent the cost, thats why they are not keeping it, and just like wrc it will be something i used to watch.

one day boost will be mine!

I love F1, even as I type this I have the practise showing on another monitor!

I find it a real shame. I have sky but not the sports channels, so looks like I will have to fork out for that which isn't a great pain.

My main concern is that I love the current setup and the fact that BBC do a good job covering it all. They cover the 3 practises on the red button, the qualifying and the race, all with good people and coverage.

I hope that they can come to some sort of agreement whereby the current BBC commentators do both Sky and BBC and that Bernie has put in a clause regarding adverts. If not, I, like a lot of people, will stop watching it.

Very possible - but they chose to hire some very expensive presenters, and a large crew to follow them around....

The major cost should be to the company (can't remember their name) that actually does the track filming for all the TV companies but BBC chose to add a lot of extra costs of their own.

I can't see how they can do this. The concord agreement specifically says that it must be free to air. I wonder if there is a loophole by showing highlights?

I can't see the teams and sponsors being happy with this so I doubt that this will be the last we hear about it.

How I understand it f1 is based on advertising surely with sky covering it it will produce less viewers as in my experience mototsport fans tend not to be into football ect so won't have sky sports... and imo although I enjoy watching it its not so good I want to pay extra each month to see it.

If the BBC cant pull the figures needed with their very good coverage how to sky expect to do it?

Bernie needs a poke in the fucking eye... wanker

There are some strong opinions about this obviously. I have enjoyed the BBC coverage and watch it more often than I did on ITV. The way I read it was that the BBC will still be showing half the races live so it is not totally lost. I have sky and find their sports coverage very good so I am not too bothered, although I expect I will still watch the races the BBC show to avoid the adverts. I will however, change my opinion if sky start showing adverts in the middle of the race like ITV used to. I can not understand how that is acceptable, if they did it with a football match there would be uproar, why should F1 be different?

Apparently the viewing figures are at a 10 year high. Alot more of my mates seem to be watching it these days, even people who aren't necessarily into motorsport as it's entertaining.
