Right managed to get my engine back but without all my other bits ive brought, but not sure if its ok or not, here a quick video of it straight after we got it outside the unit it was built at:

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa260/r...et/24df9385.mp4

Correct me if im wrong but shouldnt the crack turn over By hand, and shouldnt all the bigends be the same. As 2 are solid and 2 are loose. We questioned it but he said itl be ok anf left it at that, i however am not convinced...

Any advice please?

It staring to stress me out majorly this whole project.

Which rods are locked? could they be in 180 degrees out?

An engine that won't turn at all is not good, as a fresh build it will be tight, but shouldn't be locked.

I really dont know, dont know anything about engine building, dont wanna take it apart either because then it could be put down to me messing with it and could affect any chances of mr getting the money back for that aswell.

Looks OK to me. The movement is side to side on the rod. As long as there is no up and down movement it is OK.
As for turning it, I would not expect to shift it by hand due to the friction of rings on the bores. You should be able to turn it easily with a spanner on the crank bolt, oil the rings first.

Try a screwdriver in the end of the crank see if it will turn over.

Right turned to over with the screwdriver method (well upgraded to a bigger spanner for more leverage) as i dont have the pulley bolt to hand. And managed to turn it a quarter o the way round, couldnt turn it anymore, thats wit my old man holding it and me giving the beans anf tring to spin it.

And on the penned rods... Do these loom penned to you as i would hae thought if it got rid of the rougher bits like these rough bits from machining? :

Heres what the inside of the block looks like (loose old paint ready to go round the engine when its run up):

Very Slight corrosion in a few of the bored:

then a few metal filings and dirt here and there (bearing in mind i have ha this stored in my garage where no metal work is done and has been covered from when we picked it up from the unit in 3 heavy duty plastic bags on an empty shelf)

And although its something i could have done when youve spent alot of money ud exepct a fresh coat of paint On the outside, especially as i was asked what color i wanted it. So i need a whole new set of core plugs to paint it properly.

4 grand well spent, no head, no gearbox just old castings given back to me.

make sure the engine can breath where the deck is. ie leave it the way you had it in the vid but put it on some wooden blocks so that the pistons dont create any suction to prevent you turning it over.

What have they done to the coolant ports in the head mating face? Attempted to dry deck it?

From what I can see I'd worry a bit more about it being built right rather than about a new set of core plugs to paint it properly...

So who was it ???

4k was for lots of bit including a head loadsa turbo bits etcetc, just didnt get any of it i got a few odd bits and this, its an ongoing thing, buts hes claiming i havnt payed despite me having proof at my end, among other major problems with his service, im building a portfolio of it all and have signed sheets of what i havnt got to use in the court if it comes to it. Long story short ive been done over.
