if he has a genuine 250hp that peaks near the red line he will do it, im sure my car at its peak could have made similar speeds if i was stupid enough to rev it out.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Very interesting. 250bhp with a supercharged shortstroke BMW headed engine.

This still equates to around 25psi, and I'm not sure of any SC that will make that pressure with any efficiency.

Still, their sums may be different to mine.

I think with the right gearing my car would break 120, and deffo with 250 bhp they will. but will they have 250bhp?

Edit: Here are some previously calculated figures for BHP v top speed in a mini

General BHP needed for MPH for a mini
BHP____Speed
29.69___70
44.32___80
63.1____90
86.56___100
115.21__110
131.64__115
149.57__120
190.17__130
237.51__140
292.13__150
354.54__160
425.26__170
504.8___180
593.7___190
692.46__200

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

I'd be looking for grip as much as power.

Big risk though. 3 runs and the shell will have dissolved...

Joe, very true.

There area number of photos of the finished car on flickr. Not an intercooler in sight either.

No doubt a very well executed project, but more about marketing than breaking real records.

Now I have seen the SC, I think 250 is highly optimistic.

Maybe my sig will still stand then.

Is that in the regs?

Interestingly, someone tried a similar attempt in '06, but failed on most of their targets. The article is a little confusing on what engine was used though.
