So Lisa and I have got one of these Admiral Multicar policies to cover the 3 main road cars, her 54 MINI Cooper S, 10k pa, my 04 A4 Avant, 8k pa, and the general purpose P reg 3.0 V6 Shogun, 5k pa.
She has 9 yr NCB, I have 8, they have granted us 4yr on the Shogie.

So anyone care to guess what the renewal price is?

Well either I'm getting royally skanked, or you lot are somehow getting seriously cheap insurance.

The multicar was £1600 in the end, getting each car quoted on its own and all three were around the £600 mark each, so we've saved a couple of hundred quid.

The thing is, with increases in insurance that is widely known over the last 12-18 months, I didn't think these prices were too bad.

im 28 and my '92 1.4 astra costs me nearly 1200 a year, but when the mini's done that will be 185 per year and when turbo charged with all other mods ive been quoted 235 per year. insurance makes no sense, its just legalised extortion.

one day boost will be mine!

That does seem a lot Tom.

My Subaru is insured for 20k miles (10k for business use) and its around £450 including NCB protection.

Maybe Rotherham is slightly higher premium than my sleepy village, but £600 for each car seems a lot to me.

I'm with Admiral multicar too.

Renewal prices came in a couple of weeks ago (actually effective on Dec 14th) and is £735.01 for a modified Cossie and a Mondeo TDCi 130.

I didn't think that was too bad.

Most of it is the Cossie (which is actually SORN'd at the moment :) ) but didn't seem too bad considering declared modifications.

£600 per car is way too much in my experience.

Both of mine fully Comp and one with fully protected NCB.

Maybe it's an age thing ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

The whole of rotherham has the worst insurance grouping so policies are always expensive.

With multicar my a4 is about £720 for 30k with business use and 10years ncb protected. Lisas 04 civic is about another £450 on top of that

My 06 JCW Bini costs me £900 to insure. Thats with 10000 miles, 1 years NCB and im 23. So i would have thought that is quite expensive.

The turbo build has finally started

My renewal from FJ was absolutely fucking stupid. My first year with them was £534 tpf&t at 19 on a 6k classic policy on a 998, my 2nd year came down to just under £500, no changes. This year, they expect me to pay 60% more than i did on my first year, it's complete bullcrap. I'm glad i can't afford to keep my car on the road else they'd be getting a complaint.

Interesting, for similar stuff sounds like I am about similar.

The way I looked at it was, both the Audi and MINI were likely to be around £600 each from previous quotes etc, so the Shogun has cost us £300, which isn't too bad....

I don't think that is too bad really. It sounds alot, but when you break it down £800 each to be able to drive 3 different cars, thats less than £300 a car. Me and the missus are paying £1100 for both to be insured on a 1.4T Bravo and both my toys which are 3k limited mileage.

sheffield / derby

For reference I just got a quote from admiral for a pug 406 2.0 hdi with 10k per year and an Audi 80 1.6 with 10k per year both stored on a private drive in sheffield. I have 4 years no claims and 3 points and for me (27) and the other half (26) they want over 2 grand for a 12 month comprehensive policy, for the same cover at my parents house in nofolk it come to just over 1 grand. Its bloody crazy and it now means i cant afford to insure my cars just because of where i live!! On top of that if i insure them seperatly my no claims is only useable on one policy, so the audi on its own with no no claims is 2 grand anyway. Whats annoyed me the most is ive been driving for 10 years now and im now paying more for insurance than ive ever paid before.

I paid £1900 (yes £1900) for my 1.4 civic last year (had no NCB), paying just a few pence over a grand this year. Mini was about £520 last year, £720 odd this year! Got it down to about £630 with adrian flux, FJ didn't want to know!

I feel sorry for new drivers just starting out, ive heard they cant get quotes below £2000

£657 at current address
£398 at new address!

This all seems expensive to me. I think that the misses with the Saab 95 Aero pays around £300 and I pay about £250 for the MG ZR (only a 1.4). The mini with limited milage is a shade under £200.

I think I'll give multicar a miss.
