Any one know of a source for 12 point flange head bolts/ nuts in the UK, other than ARP?

Bolts also known as MS21250 in the Aerospace industry.

Mainly 5/16. Length varies, as they'll be for bolting all the transmission to the engine. Ideally unf and unc, just to be awkward *happy*

Just looking at that page and seeing 'specials' something tells me that they will only sell in quantities I don't want lol.

CAT do the bolts you require, being American imperial sizes are not a problem, I have had some for my engine.

Google CAT Finning to find a dealer near you. They have a catalogue with fasteners in for you to look at

Good call. A Brnd you can trust! Unfortunately, looking at catalogue items, they only do a 3/4" length 5/16UNF . They have a good selection of UNC though.

Ah, didn't know that, it was some 5/16 UNC I got for transfer case to block. When my Finnings man is back after Xmas I'll pinch his book for a look.

Looks a similar catalogue to the one I have seen. I will check next week if he has a different one.

Thats what I am really trying to find out.

ARP blister packs are around £21 for a pack of 5 1" x 5/16UNF, so that makes them around £4.20 each. Generic MS or NAS bolts have to be less without the brand name? Compare that to a standard NAS bolt of the same length, £2.30.

Thing is, I wouldn't mind paying £4.20 each, individually, not in 'bulk'. Basically, If I want 11 bolts of one size i'll need to buy 15, and 6 of another size, i'll have to buy 10. That gets real expensive.

Give Ralph a shout at

http://www.componentengineering.co.uk

He got a lot of custom Titanium nuts and bolts made for his Metro. Maybe he can organise something ?

or at the other end of the scale...somewhere like this ?

http://www.capricorngroup.net/no_cache/en.html

And isnt there a company that advertises in some magazines who can make custom studs and bolts etc ? Dont recall their name though.

Maybe, but I also suspect you have never tired installing normal 5/16 hex head bolts on the gearbox to block*happy* Cap heads are just awkward. so what if i'm being a posh bastard*tongue*

That said, Engineering studs are the better idea. Hmm.

I might be persuaded to take some of your hands if you had to buy in bulk Col. Need to do some engine bolt pimping myself.

a quick google

http://www.bolt-nut-eng.co.uk/bespoke.htm

http://www.ralingroup.co.uk/custom%20fasteners.html

Is there plenty of room to get a ring spanned on with studs and full 12pt nuts with a 5/16" stud ?

You could just buy the kit from APT:

http://www.aptfast.com/ListItems/SubCatego...ccessories.aspx

Poorly listed, but I believe some of those are 5/16", well the ones I bought were.

Stevie, I appreciate the help, but I have already been on google for hours and came accross both of those. I wouldnt be surprised if the minimum order is 100, so many of the 'suppliers' are. Not what I'm looking for *oh well* Basically, they are happy to supply these bolts, but they don't carry them in stock, which is why there is a minimum order.

Perhaps if the only ones you could get your hands on were minimum order, maybe you could organise a group buy type thing?
