I do a number of bonnets in GRP & Carbon Fibre.

Mk1 & Mk3 as standard, with a Mk3 Bonnet with vents at the back as well, with a Clubman Bonnet and a Mk1 Smoothy bonnet being done in the paintshop waiting for prep/paint.

I am looking at doing Bonnets with Alloy hinges at the back as well, but this still means useing either pins or straps at the front.

For Carbon Fibre their are 2 different versions at the moment:

1: Race, Single layer of Carbon Fibre. Ultra light, strong(ish) but not really suitable for road.

2. Fast Road, Carbon Fibre but with mulit layer of GRP as well, still very light but a bit stronger for road use.

The Fast Road will be offered with hinges when they are sorted out.

ALL CARBON FIBRE shows weave as standard unless stated otherwise, or you state you don't want weave showing.

The Clubman Bonnet will be avaible in two versions, Race (as above) and Show. Show will have an inner skin showing weave (once I've worked out best way of doing it) and will cost more due to work involved. Show bonnet NOT light weight or good for Race/Fast Road.

Also C/F doors that fit would be rather nice to. :)

I could do with a KAD style bonnet with the bulge for the twin cam head, minus the bulge for the cam wheels and a subtle bulge at the front to cover the carb filters.

Current KAD bonnet is ok, but not ideal

8 port heads/webers in round nose minis are a pain in the arse :)

Would also like some lightweight rear doors, my current ones are steel, heavy and modified

I'd guess this will cost me £££££££

ahhh! i just bought a visible carbon bonnet on ebay! well, about 2 weeks ago and it hasnt arrived yet *indifferent*
It has no vents at the back though or hinges so i'm gonna have to raise it at the back to let the heat out and maybe drill some holes in the front.
How much do you charge for visible weave with vents at the back? and do you have any pictures?
Also, would a visible weave smooth bootlid be possible?

why do posts like this always appear just AFTER you have parted with your money? :p

£132 inc p+p

Just got off the fone to them, apparently there was a problem with first batch of carbon which is why its taking so long, and because of this the one they are sending me has 3 layers of carbon instead of the 2 layers it was meant to have (with fibreglass on back for strength)

So you're gonna have a green roundnose with a carbon bonnet? ... same as me! although my mini is a brighter green (kawasaki green) ... maybe we can start another trend much like the yeloow mini trend there seems to be on this site *wink*

i'd vote for black, but thats probably cuz i'm influenced by the import racer look, and a lot of them have black/dark bonnets, just how i like it :)

1. Bumpers. When I find some decent bumpers to take a copy from then yes, bumpers will be done. Showing weave of course.

2. Doors: Do GRP doors, but they haven't been touched in a while so will dig em out and have a good look. The doors can be done in CF, frame in black gel coat then the skin showing weave. I have been asked to supply Door Skins in Black Gel coat but with the weave visible on the inside. More when sorted out.

3. 8 Port/Kad Bonnet: Do a 8 port bonnet which has a big bulge on the front. This covers a pair of Webers with filters. Any use?

The bonnet hinges I have looked at are from B&Q in alloy, unless anyone works in a metal place that can make some up for me *happy*

Oh I forgot, yes do a 1 piece rear door for the van/estate. Would you like it in GRP Frame but with the skin in Carbon Fibre Showing Weave? Special order one-of thing!!!!

I have a ERA Bonnet vent waiting for a mould to be taken, these will be in Carbon Fibre Showing Weave as standard.

Mines a 2 piece rear door range rover style - one up, one down so it would be a special order anyway. Would like an idea on cost though.

Would like to see a bonnet to see how big the bulge is as I'm after a small bulge maybe open at the bottom for air flow.

Will try and get some better pics and pm you

Cheers

Neil

Smudgy. Could you make me a KAD bonnet only a couple of inches longer?? Some Scot lengthened my bonnet, which makes replacement difficult :)
