These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Below are some diagrams of each stage of de-seaming

All this is done in 6 inch sections - do not cut of the whole seam in one go

Also, do 6 inches, them miss 6 inches, then do the next 6 inches - then return to the start and do the missed sections

If doing the roof, do 6 inches in one place then move to a different part of the roof and do another 6 inches, working your way around until all is done, this is to stop too much heat from distorting the roof panel

1. Seam after seam strip removed

2. Cut off the seam leaving about 2 millimeters proud of the surface - this is so that you have something more substantial to weld to - if you cut it flush, you will not get the penetration, and you'll burn holes through

3. weld the 2 millimeters of metal with the highest setting before you blow holes through the metal - if you have access to any sections of the back of the seam, you can weld from the inside as well for greater strength

4. Using a hammer, tap the weld so that the metal starts to folder in on itself - keep tapping until the weld is below the surface of the original position

5. Fill over the top

i think its a common problem as water runs down between the door and if your door seals are rubbish its coming in sadly.

also the door frames crack at the point where the window meets the door skin and there is naff all clamping pressure against the door seals

When ever I've read up about deseaming it's always been advised to leave the roof gutter on.

one day boost will be mine!

Near Paris - France

Maybe do the deseaming only on the front and rear of the roof ?

Renault 4L springs to mind, there was a gutter only along the sides, the front and rear were flush.

This setup shall help with aerodynamics too ...

Hi, i deseamed the sides and the roof , I removed the seam from an early metro and adapted that so it went partly down the front edge of the door and above the top of the door to stop the leaks. using the metro seam loked alot smoother than just leaving part of the mini seam

I've had a jet wash round mine and it doesn't leak. Doors are in good nick and the seals are new. Had to bend the tops of the door to make sure they were straight. Not that it will get much use in the winter.

What technique did you use?
I know that some people have done lead loading....

You only use lead loading if you have a beard and take you car to shows on a trailer to keep the tyres clean, or are american. It's plated and welded on the inside where accessible and smoothed off on the outside. Bit of filler to finish. It's easy really, just very time consuming. After you've done a couple of feet you wish you'd never started!
