Hey all,

I did a search on "Harness Mounting" on the site, wow there are alot of posts regarding the mounting I have had a look through them but i couldn't find my answer.......

I am curious, I am still intending on keeping the rear seats in the Mini for the time being so can not fit a bar or fix to the rear bulkhead, is there a way in which I can mount a harness just straight down to the floor behind the seat? or can anyone tell me any other options i can look at ?

Keeping safety in mind of course :)

Thanks
Jamie

Definitly not down behind the seat. Depending on what model you have i had some 3point harnesses in my sportpack and it was fastend to the top rear mount at the side of the parcel shelf !.

Straight down is a no no, if you crash it will compress your spine.

Thanks for the prompt reply Rick.

How do people go about mounting them on Vans and Pickups then out of interest ?

Not really no, best bet is to ditch the back seats and bolt to the rear bulkhead, but you must re inforce the area, it is not strong enough to withstand the forces of a decent shunt.

Ok, I'll have to rethink, safety is foremost in my mind in any mini, but especially in mine seeing as I have no roof.....

If you are wanting to keep the rear seats I presume that you want a practical useable car?

If so, forget the harnesses, they're just a pain. Better to stick to conventional 3-point retractable.

Not to bothered about it beig practical :) it is a mini after all haha......

Just really want to fit Cobra Classics and on the odd occasion myself my old man and the missus all attend a show or a mini gathering we can all squeeze in.......

I just think it looks so much better with Harness and also safer with full harness, 3 Point seatbelt just isn't the same with it *happy*

What about leaving the standard seat belts in and using them 3 point type harnesses with the inertia reel on as the have a standard seat belt buckle before the real so can be unclipped pretty easily. And then still got standard belts for when passengers are in.

one day boost will be mine!

I'm trying find a link but struggling on my phone, they are like a standard 3 point harness but in the rear mount there is a standard type seatbelt reel. I think saftey devices made them a few years back, unclipped like this one http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?...nid=73133138675
But had a reel for the rear mount onto the parcel shelf.

one day boost will be mine!

That would be exactly the type I'm thinking of, once unclipped they will retract out of the way of the rear seat passengers and just leave the harness over the seat.
