Basically long story short carb and plenum wouldnt fit the car so instead of braying shite outta bulkhead like everyone else does my dad decides that were going to remove the spacer and then use bolts on the carb to the inlet manifold and as the bit the throttle cable goes onto hits the manifold we will turn it the other way round. Great till the bit you tighten the nut up on the butterfly rod snapped so now I need a re-build kit at £50!!!! And minispares cant get them till end of next week FFS getting sick and tired of spending more and more and more money on the fucking thing and things not fitting when everyone else car I see on here it fits just fine.

i think everyone has had problems like you say above things not fitting reordering bits and they still dont fit i know i have any ways just part of it, if it was that easy eveyrone would have done it and it would be boring. chun up when you get the right bits itll all work out. Do you guys use adjustable engine steadys to overcome the problems with the plenum hitting the bulkhead??? I did search earlier and just wanted to be sure it was okay to do this and that it wont put stress on the 2 lower engine mounts

I've been cursing my cars in general. Finally got the mini ready for the rolling road session and I've had a massive battle getting the defender through its mot. Fucking old cars! On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

I have an unused Turbo HIF44 rebuild kit sat in a box if you need one super quick. Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |

You will have no problem with fitting an adjustable engine steady at all mate, I will say you do need at least two one at each side for better stability, you wont hurt the engine mountings at all, you should only have to move it a bit to get the clearance you need, dont lose heart mate we all go through those times..Alan Main Build

My old n/a ran 4 adjustable engine steDys two on the gearbox and two up top, never damaged the engine mounts and i moved the engine quite far forwards to bring the exhaust higher as i kept ripping it off.

Just use poly bushes in the steady, my dsn one is bushed at the bulkhead and solid at the block. Just use the bracket you will be fine.

I can sympathise with all probs; it is never straight forward and I can tell you I've had to re-do more than a few finished elements of the build when i've come to fitting another part |
