I've had wipers on an old mini that went the opposite way to normal, are you sure you used the original holes and have you used this wiper set up before you did the re-build?

You have them parked on the wrong side.
MK1 and 2 have the wipers parked pointing towards the middle of the road, all others have them parked pointing towards the kerb.
Check you have the correct assembly for your car and you have them parked the right way round.
The kink in the wiper arm itself is bent the opposite way depending on application

I seriously doubt it!

It's the wiper setup from the car, but with new motor and wiper boxes. Except the tubes got bent whilst in storage and I had to straighten them a bit.

What do you mean by parked Dave? Can't picture what you mean...

I mean parked as in not switched on - in the parked position at the bottom of the screen.
Modern cars have the wiper pointing towards the kerb so that as they sweep the wiper clears the largest area for the driver to view out of, early Minis had them pointing the opposite way.
Ill try to find some pictures for you

I seriously doubt it!

What maccamcvey means is set the wipers to wipe with out the wiper blades on, switch off let them self park, then put your wiper blades back on, also check you have the right dia. wheel box's, I think the mark one box's are different..

See which way they point on my car

And which way they point on this car

Which way do they point on your car? The motors run in the same direction on both cars but if you have the wqrong wipers in the wrong position they will wipe the bonnet as you have found - this caught me out when I started playing with MK1s

I seriously doubt it!

My car is a mk 1 mini and the wipers wiped the opposite way to the mk3 minis, but when I renovated the car I changed the position to the mk3 position by drilling a extra hole and welding the old one up..

Looking at Andy's build thread and where the holes in the scuttle are, they should be parking on the passenger side.

The reason they were changed was the old way used to only wipe half the screen in front of the driver..

I'd go with you having the wheel boxes on the wrong side if the rack - easily done if you've had it stripped down.
Problem is I can't remember which is right, rack in front of or behind boxes - ill try and stick my head under a bonnet in the morning.

bulkhead side of the rack as they rotate up and into the holes away from you as you stand infront of the car

I get what you mean now Dave, and they are on the way in your second pick. I have been fitting them with it in the park position.
