I think we may have talked about this ford eco boost engine before, but i just read an artical from top gear about this lil 3 cylinder 1 litre 202bhp engine lapping the ring.
Im very impressed tbh even in a formula car. Making a road legal formula ford though.... maybe not the most sensible idea.

I was working at the company that built this car during the summer, fantastic bit of kit! I agree, these little ecoboost engines are very clever indeed.

I accidentily swapped settings over on ms when fiddling with wi and had my mini sat idling on 2 cylinders idle speed was a little lower but it had a 2stroke ring to it.. it would start first push and idle away asi f it was normal.. good little mini engines lol
Someone may remember a text i sent them in panic mode hahahaha that was the day after some 25psi runs and i though it had gone pop :)

very impressive, reliability must be questionable at that output though and I would assume regular rebuilds are required.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

i dont think thats true my mothers youngest daughter bought my ford fiesta off me, did about 100k miles with just yearly oil and spark plug changes...... i'd say they were awesome; although i havent had a recent ford.

People have been running 200+bhp in charade gtxx/gtti's for years now although mpg at that power is low. My GTti does 55mpg if driven sensibly

Not too bad really, it's the ones in transits that are the ones to watch!

almost funny (if it wasnt so enfuriating) when they announced they were putting a 1 litre in the mondeo, i stupidly decided to read the comments people were putting on the top gear website. It appears not many people have heard of the eco-boost engine yet. Usual comments like "1 litre, my saxo vtr is better" it was devistantly frustrating
