DIESEL lol, its a run around untill i sort the mini becouse its taking so long to finish i needed something to get me around so got me a 1.5 turbo diesel nova, should do the job niceley, but i know you can turn the boost and fueling up and make 100bhp reliably and i am too tempted!
is it true if a diesel engine runs lean it doesent just melt pistons like petrols?

sounds a very good move. id just leave the nova std, there not a bad little car at all with the td in. why spend money on the nova when it could go on the mini

Iain has hit the nail on the head though, leave it as it is and just use it. They are approx 65bhp std, not being funny but I don't think you have got a cat in hells chance of getting anywhere near 100bhp out of it, let alone reliably! I had a go at tuning my 306 TD, bit of a waste of time really, all it does it produce a lot of smoke and uses more fuel, and possibly goes a touch better but you hardly notice.

More than anything else, its a diesel nova, its never going to be quick, so concentrate on your mini and use the nova for what its for, a HACK!

My brother had an H reg nova TD, it went like fu*k for what it was. Used to be able to embarrass XR3i's and the like:)

-MINI CLUBMAN 1380 TURBO-

you can turn the boost up easily, the actuator is on a threaded bar, turn it up to about 14 psi (1 atmospheric) when you do it you also have to turn the diesel pump up, its a bit of a pig, but can be done, alot easier with it off you need to remove the tamper seal (ie small chisel) and leave it off, and just keep adjusting until it doesn't smoke like a ferry, or knock (over dieseling). when its somewhere near right (its not a precise art) they get to about 80/90 hp if you are lucky, if you wnat more diesel power just stick the 1.7 TD isuzu lump in it, instead of the 1.5.

I wouldn't advise going much about a bar, the standard relief valve starts getting upset and leaks boost...

PS when going for bigger power people weld the valve shut and remove the spring, not recomended!!!!

my nova is complete standard gsi. was gonna buy an Lreg turbo d like but deal fell..they have abit more bracing on the front than origional novas so better to calibra turbo

dont put any sunstrips on or kits etc...lol

watch the novas dan they ARE S***E on the corners you can SOON roll them!

i should know i had more heart ache with my son some years back

Oh! and the brakes fade very easily if you are giving it a touch

i had a go at turning the fueling up (gopt instructions off mig web) and cant worth the fuel pump out, as its not going top cost me anything but a bit of smoke i thought it be worth while and rather amusing, tho it is honestly quick now, its faster than my mums 1.6 escort i recon!
i am not putting ANY money into it apart from a service and thast it, but if i get a few free bhp then why not, how can i resist, i read that the isuzu lump if verry strong and can easily cope as it is.

yep done quite a few nova before... like I said, geta boost gauage in it and don't go above a bar, or it will leak boost and generally get upset.

If you want it to stop, put a set of 256mm astra GTE 16v/cav GSI brakes on the front. Straight fit, and will cost you about £10 from a scrap yard.

need at least 14" wheels to clear.

As for them not handling, they are pretty cack standard, set of spax or simialr dampers and springs and they become like a mini. If they don't handle, why do so many people use them for local club rallying and hill climbs? they are like minis, cheap, but can be made to go very quickly, very cheaply.

Anything "boyed up" in my opinion is shite.

I personally think my cossy type whale tail spoiler and flip paint job is very tastefull and not exactly barryboy ish.

Na thats all good, do you have a picture? Its just when you start putting plastic snowplows on the front and add shitty things like lexus rear lights and wheels 6 inches bigger than standard it spoils it.
