Right, I've read lots of rants about the DVLA, but have so far have avoided falling victim myself. Therefore my opinion of them has remained fairly neutral. Until this evening.

I recently recieved a letter asking me to reapply for my photocard licence as it has expired. Fair enough. £20 is a bit much, but the cost of having these things need to be paid for.

My renewed licence arrived today, just 4 working days after I'd sent the documents back. Well done DVLA. Good show, I thought...

The fucking bunch of useless twats have sent me a provisional license! For fucks sake!

The main evidence (my license) was required to be sent back with the docs.

Luckily, I couldn't be arsed to dig out the counterpart, so declared it lost. I'll have to have a look for that now.

my dad had to take his bike licence again as dvla wiped it off when they renewed his licence as he didnt notice for about 3 years.... in which he was riding his bike!

Oh dear!

Ive heard of people losing various entitlements at renewal time due to fuck ups. Motorbikes etc.

Always keep a copy of all documents !

Thing is. Surely this stuff is on their records. I was pulled recenty and everything checked out fine.

heard of similar before, a mate gained his hgv and lost his bike licence and his points he complained like fook and ended up getting his bike and points back

dvla are f-----g scum tried to get me for not paying my road tax on a motorbike i sold over nine years ago ,of course id thrown out the bit of paper from dvla that said thanks for letting us know that your no longer the registered keeper ,so i had no proof that i no longer owned it as the garage id sold it to over nine years ago went tits up ,and whoever they sold it to hadnt bothered registering it in their name ,so according to dvla i was still the registered keeper ,5 months of solicitors letters and demands from their debt collectors i finally found the bit of paper id thought id thrown out ,photo copied it and posted it to them via my solicitor ,never even got a appologie, fecking wankers
