I'm sure a few people on here could do it quicker. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I know I can do it quicker, but allowances had to be made for the cameraman and splicing my hand open halfway though. Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |

The fastest. I ever changed a running engine, take it out out, change box crank and new shells fitted, back in and running was 5 hours

If the big ends have spun in the rod, and the rod is not repaired or replaced, the bearings will fail again very soon. 9.85 @ 145mph

Raw working hours I think that's the time my 998 engine needed for building :) But that was more of a 'throw junk together and put it in the car', not much repairing going on :) [X] nail here for new monitor |

I seen myself up all night just to make sure my Mini was back on the road again for work the next day, whether it was a simple problem, or a fucked engine or gearbox. Young and stupid lol. Sounds about right. At 20 I found myself finishing an engine change at 3am so it would get me to work the next day! On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

Not in any was comparable, but a colleague and I, working together when I was 19,removed a Morris 1000 engine, changed the clutch and re-fitted the engine in just over an hour.

It was for a district nurse who did a couple of visits locally while we did it. When we charged £30, all in, she was outraged and complained that she had to wait ! but david ,be fair , that is the equivalent of 3000 quid in today money ,and its much easier lying under a car in chain mail .:) Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM |

Nurse and car mechanic, not how I visualised that story ending. However I managed 2 gearbox changes with engines back in and running in under 12 hours. Some twenty years ago Own the day

We pulled the crank out of my mini engine at the side of the track at lyddon hill. We also flushed out the gearbox, put it all back together and set fastest lap, think it was about 3 hours On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
