Have been trying to get my clutch and flywheel off for a couple of days with no success. Left it over night and also heated it. I have undone the flywheel bolts from the clutch and the flywheel is apart from the clutch but the clutch won't come off the crank taper. Any ideas?
Thanks

Oh yeah the keyway is out and the flywheel puller is up as tight as it will go. Got no more thread on bolt. I'm pretty sure it's square on it looks it.

I always found the trick was in the hitting of the hammer, finding the flywheels resonance.

I've been twatting it all night and most of yesterday. It's an ultralight verto and trying not to damage it too much but doesn't seem to move. Hit it on end of flywheel puller with a 14lb sledge a few times yesterday and on the back a lot tonight but just with a normal hammer.

Running out of thread does not sound right

Have you got the insert in the end of the crank for the puller to act on? You shouldn't have run out of threads, particulary if this is in place

I don't think I do actually. Will have to look for that! I have my bolt into a big domed nut with just a thick flat washer in there at the moment. I'll have a look tomorrow for the insert and try that!

Have you tried an impact driver on the puller bolt, the type you put your wheel nuts on with, works for me best method I have used with out a doubt.. Alan

14lb sledge hammer was used on flywheel puller bolt

Its the repeated shock action that makes the impact driver work, some times the big hammer just does a bouncing action, just a thought if you have got one to try what you got to lose.. Alan

have you taken the torch to it yet??
i have always put the puller on finger tight nd square flywheel bolt out puller insert in used an impact gun to tighten up the main puller bolt with some spray lube on it just squeezed the gun till it pops 3/4" air gun has plenty of balls!
probably a bit rough but it works.. its easier than holding the flywheel whilst doing the bolt up faster too..

I'll have one more look tonight then if I can't shift it Mike would you mind calling in? Where are you? It was a brand new MED ultralight setup last summer and they did say they cleaned up the taper anyway at the time.

Well I found the insert to the end of the crank. Thought it was going well had loads of thread left and then it sheared the head off the bolt.
Think I'm gonna have to call on the help of mr mikerace
