tough one that. I have a bias spring and quick shift in the hillclimber. It's great, but I prefer a longer throw on a daily. Bias springs are good though.

hmmm. Had comedy throw on my gear box, so put the quickshift on, thought I would try the bias whatsit too.

Third is stiff, but with the bias thing tightened on the shaft I can't really get anything other than 4th...

I have one too on the kad quick shift. I found that if you put it on as instructed it was too stiff. But rotate it round a bit and it is much better.

Never got mine to work and took it off in the end however I do think it had more to do with the shift being worn out. Lesson of the day would be make sure the gear change is not worn before fitting.

I'll have another fiddle when I get chance. My shifted seems in good condition.

Had to get a new bush made (were not available) in the end. By the time I sorted it I had sold the spring on ebay.

It is maybe also worth mentioning that stiing in my garage, going brum brum, and changing gear is quite difficult with the spring. But ones driving properly it works very well.

Hmmm. I think I will leave it fitted and worry about it once the car is on the road. After all, i fucking hate getting roll pins out of the selector rods with the car on the stands...

This my standard gear change, used it on 5 speed and 4 speed box, its a lot nicer to drive with it
fitted, but I think mini spares state that its not for a quick shift, sat now waiting for me to finish my
rebuilt engine..

Slide the bias barrel onto the rod, spring facing the back of the car.

Funny part about it all is I have overhauled this gear shift so had it all apart, rebushed, new shaft, new center yoke and still put it back the wrong way round, no hope for me Andy..

It makes no difference which way round it is. It is more important to get it in the right position on the shaft. I had mine to far forward and could not get second gear as it clashed with the other rod.

I think I have the collar for the quick shift slightly of straight which won't be helping.

Where abouts is your's sat Ben? Mine ends up with the spring somewhere near the steering rack.

I can't remember exactly, but I know when I got it wrong it clashed. So I had to move it to a more central position between the fork and the bend.

Ill be putting my engine back in shortly and I do mine with aid of a jig on wheels, and have got flip front, so before I put engine and sub frame back to the car ill take a photo of it setup, doing it this way its easy to setup gear shift no rolling about underneath the car..
