i have a 2.95 in mine and it was only a dog to get moving due to the low CR and lack of torque (inc SCCR box) however it wasnt much of a problem, except for on hills. |

I'm running a modified 1293 hi comp NA motor with a 3.1 on 12's, awesome for blasting around town as well as along country roads and fairly decent on the open road too. I've tried both the 2.76 & 2.95 diff on this same motor and only really noticed a change in top end, pull away was painstakingly slow on both but once rolling a lovely drive.

Not really. 80 is not much short of 5k rpm so pretty loud. A mate described a long run in my car as like being kicked down a hill in an oil drum! Edited by minimole23 on 6th Mar, 2013. higher the number the better for acceleration and slower top speed and worse mpg

I have a 2.9 in a 998 turbo. Used daily in city traffic and fast A roads, perfect for everything.
Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

4th gear is direct drive through the main shaft, hence its 1:1 and cannot be changed.

With an overdrive. however some 5 speed boxes have a direct drive 5th and a different spread of ratio's If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
