Hi I am not new to turbo minis but I am new member I have had my mini for 2 years and love it has had a new 1330 which i have built with my uncle who is a skilled engineer but after a start up today after a few months of sitting to check tappets, oil, water ect i have heard a bad knocking noise from around the speedo drive area and have posted a video on youtube.
Someone please shed some light on this mysterious noise as the engine has been run in for a few months and have never heard it before.

Thanks! Jordan :)

did you modify the timing chain cover enough?
happened to mine where i cut and bent back the bit that sticks out
a piece broke off *doh*
same thing can happen to the locking tab

need to take out the rad and get the timing chain cover off and have a look

there are 2 bolts that go through the front plate into the main bearing these need to be counter sunk and swapped for some counter sunk head type bolts
and the timing chain cover has to be modified, there is a 3/4 circle in there that would normal surround the oil thrower that needs to be cut out,
its not clear from the sound witch one is causing the problem but i will half guess the timing chain is catching the bolt heads

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

did you knock the lump out of the cover as the chain catches on it.

Firstly. A warm welcome! As the lads say above,

Your uncle needs to learn a few more skills I think.

there's a small lump "circled in red" that needs knocking out as per the attachment.

this is what the internal of the cover should look like, i made the same mistake and the chain rubbed through in the end.

You DO NOT need to remove the metal retainer type bit in the top of Lee's picture.

Eyup BTW.

I've never removed it and not had any problems. You just have to bash the dimple out.

andy you DO have to remove the ring if its fitted with a rotorslide adjustable duplex,

a standard or lightend steel or cast duplex you you can leave it on
