Ok a few things to first note:

1) On the UK run I had a basically 'empty' car - no tools or anything. On the USA run I had (at a guess) 40/50kg of 'ballast' (total car weight according to the scales at the track was 1860lb / 843kg incl driver).

2) The UK time was not my best ever (13.856@101), but a typical time.

3) The car was exactly the same spec as per the time it raced in the UK - the clutch was on its last legs but seemed to 'just' hold up on the track, so is pretty much 'as is'.

4) The car was sipping 93 octane (Ron+Mon/2) fuel on the USA runs, 98 octane fuel (Ron) in England. No real difference noted.

5) The USA track is approx 1000ft above sea level - not sure about York or avon, but I recall Manchester is something like 100ft above sea level.

6) Air charge temps on the USA runs were typically 5-7 degrees hotter than the runs at Avon Park 2004.

7) Finally - The USA run was pretty much a 'perfect' run regards traction and launch - the best I did all night at the strip.

So - with all that in mind, here is the ticket *laughing*

hmmm, not thought about that.

I'm 92kg I recall... So taking out 92kg and 45kg of ballast, that makes my car 705kg... I recall it was heavier than that *oh well*

Why???

Becuase the AA equivalent over here will only tow you to the nearest garage, NOT all the way home...*frown* Hence, if you want to drive (rather than trailer) to an event, preparation for the inevitable is useful...

If you aren't getting 2.2-2.3 seconds consistently in your turbocharged mini you just need to practice more and/or maybe try a different lauch strategy - it's that simple!!!

I knew Carl would be along to show us up!

Matt - I reckon a 2.95 with 10" wheels and a prostigeous amount of torque and a suitably strong clutch will launch quite nicely!

ie - you need to practice more! *tongue* *laughing*

dave , my green car is no lightweight ,but pulled 2.4/5 60ft at the showdown in 99 .and 2.2 and 2.3 all day long in 2000.[i just looked] ,i had an open diff fitted albeit shagged ,plannet gears chewing into casing ,so worked quite nicely at keeping both wheels spinning together at launches .
not a very power full engine but would rev to 9k in the first two gears on a 3.44 diff and 7300 down the m62 to brighouse..
i once pulled a 1.56 at the pod on a photo day for minimag with just the front engine ,now that was a strange feeling.
