Kid at work got a grand off his new honda cbr125r last month... Guess that's why he's working in sales!

I was looking at getting a street triple a while ago, but at that time they were so high in demand that the dealer wouldn't budge at all...
So I'm a +1 with lee.pb... Get what you can, can't hurt to ask *hehe!*

Hmmm, Well that's a strange noise O.O

my advice is don't get one ........... there's too many buffoon's on the road to knock you off it, I don't want to piss on your dream or bonfire but winters coming and last month my best friend go killed on one a woman reversed on to a main road and he hit her, he had no chance

the time of year is exactly what i was thinking, and mostly why i am getting one now & that i will have more playing power. not that i may use it much if that makes sense, although im sure there will be the odd day when i do use it.

still unsure about the new yamaha MT09? although i may use that to my advantage and pop in and have a look at that first.

comes in purple to! well the piccy is :)

i will have the cash so will help me even more. Probably will get more in the way off parts than i will money i think; heard triumph are tough bastards :p

about my experience, i used to ride a scooter which i know is different to this beast. some of you may remember http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=314763. used to cover about 600-800 mile a month on the thing so had many hours on the road and some in snow, rain etc etc. But im not going to be taking that experience to this and be cocky as i know its a whole new ball game. However wanting a bike i can keep and enjoy i want one that in 2 years im not going to want to sell.

how the hell did he get 1k off a 125, thats like 20% off isnt it?

I,m an old fart with 50+ years on bikes but if your only experience ion two wheels is a scooter and you are looking at 120mph bikes then can I suggest a bit of extra training perhaps ?

Benross is clearly anti bikes with good reason, but he does have a point.

No matter how good you are (or maybe think you are -not you Taz) its the other buggers that will kill you.

tbh i'll probably ride more sensible on this than i did my scooter as i defiantly respect it more already and i've not even got one. i learnt on a x6j (77bhp 120mph+ bike) and that was ok, seemed a bit gutless as you had to rev it but a nice bike all the same, comfy.

i do appreciate your comments and i know im not going to be riding like a twat plus i cant not get something for the sake of other road users otherwise i may as well sit in a room of pillows :) also we all got to start somewhere and i know my extra hours on the scooter will help, even for awareness.

apparently the MT03 is a bit wet so that doesnt leave much for the MT09 :p

The tripe engine is a good, forgiving engine that sounds awesome and the chassis is probably the best on the market. All in all a well handling bike that does everything well. I had a 2011 Daytona that i used to use for road/trackdays, it was superstock spec, Got the S1000 now and i miss the 675.

Cheers!

I phoned about a 675R about 6 months ago and he refused to budge on price, left him my number and told him to do better, Funnily enough i got a phone call 3 days later with a 500 reduction in price!

That was my thoughts exactly, that's the main reasons i got the BMW. If you go for the R then they don't like to drop the price as they claim they are in limited supply, not sure about the SE or the standard bike though. When i bought mine (Daytona SE) in 2011 it was supposed to be 8,300 i think and i got it for 7750 with 675 worth of free leathers. I just rang around the dealerships and played one off another. I couldn't get any better than that.

Nice choice of bike, I prefer a fared bike myself. As for experience I passed my test in march, after doing my CBT the october before. I had a 125 all winter and the week after passing my test I got a YZF600 Thundercat. I love it. It took a while to get the hang of. Then in June I rode to Le Man on it and last month a track day at Rockingham.

In my limited experience I have to say that most people have seen me coming no problem. It is about making yourself seen really. I think that sticking to the speed limit in built up areas is the key.

It only takes one person not to see you, but you take a chance getting up in the morning, crossing the road or putting your face in a fan.

From my experience people only ever pull out on me when i'm going too fast in the first place. Its hard to ride a 600/1000cc sports bike at 30mph.

true, i failed my test once as i was riding through aldershot down a massive parade road and it was 30mph for about 200 meters but then it went to 40mph. Anyway i was at 40mph before i knew it and not that anyone was danger as its massive but they are hard to ride at 30mph :)

well i went to see the MT09 first and well its a nice bike, big between the legs but not to heavy *wink* however as they are selling like hot cakes the guy was not offering any money off nor any extras thrown in... so off the triumph i went.

got in the triumph place had a sit on the bike n look around etc and well felt much better than the MT09 for a start, not as bulky and way lighter. haggled and he wouldnt budge on price however all i could wing was about 800 pounds off accessories incl fitting which wasnt so bad. he was a ncie guy, sure i probably could have maybe gone lower but at the time you dont really think about it and i came away thinking i got a good deal.

pick it up hopefully in about 2 weeks :)

Nice one. You will have to put some pictures up and a bit of a review. Which triumph did you go for? The speed triple?

will defiantly do that! wondering if i should get a camera for my helmet as everyone seems to be doing it these days :p

went for the street triple r in the end. the speed triple is just a bit to big in my eyes (and the price tag) and the street is a nice size; plus more than enough for more with 100 shetlands for me to start slow and learn on. I went for the R as as this is a bike i want to keep for the foreseeable future and play with i thought why get the normal when i will probably want the uprated shocked etc etc later.
