Hi all, anyone running kad vented 4 pots on 7.9" discs?

Did you have to drill out the drive flanges to accept the cap head bolts? If so what to? I dont want to get them off centre or anything stupid...

Pissing me off there is no instructions with the kit when you pay out so uch money.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

Thanks mate I will give them a call tomorrow, I'm one of the few anti face-bookers. I guess they are using metric bolts and the are a bit too big...

Thanks gents I will break out the drill

Oh I see its the metro. Still not how it reads on the kad site all sounds simple and everything is going to fit a 10 pence sheet of paper with some instructions on should have helped.

I thought I was going to have to buy some super duper kad flanges..

That's an awful lot!............ are you sure?

Graham, the Vented disc is a Metro part, and they use a standard M10 thread. KAD likely buy in a standard design disc and then machine them to their own final dimension.

Thanks Simon,

joe, I think the kad discs are supposed to be machined so you can just bolt them up.... Well according to the website, I will see when I go to swap everything over.

Colin- understand thanks, it not quite how the portray it on their website, as they "make them" when really it sounds like they are just machining them.

On the progress front I stripped, cleaned painted everything up last weekend.

I built the hubs up today and did the ball joints so getting close to swap everything over.

I guess I will be taking the corners off the pads too...

Yep,

thinking hard I seem to remember its somthing peculaular to the 6 pots, they use the mini flange to keem the offset right, it used to be detailed on the Kad site, but that was two website changes ago....

the face of the disc bell that mounts against the drive flange,

not all discs have enough meat to do this, the ones I had were had over an inch of material there.

ah here we go....

kad say the thickness of the bell mounting needs to be 660 thou to clear the hub, and material needs to be taken from the hub and sttering arm area....

But, as I'm and awkward bastard I'm using the metro hubs, and IMO cant take enough material from the hub, so I moved the disk towards the wheel to match where the caliper sat, I had to take what ever the difference is between the metro and mini flange to do this plus a bit more for the diference between the two hubs,

I called KAD and they have confirmed the std flanges will work with the Caliper spacer kit if you have purchased the KAD discs and drill out the flanges to 10mm.

oh and I need to cut the corners off the pads and BOOM!

A note in the box would have helped.....

so drilled the hubs and de-burred the edges so hopefully no wobbly braking.

Cut the corners off the pads and painted the exposed metal with some high temp paint to try and stop the rust...

Next stop fitting......

I used the mini torque figures, for the flange to disc bolts, I guessed it would be close to the metro figure that I don't have?
I used 42 ft-lbs is the metro about the same?

38 lb ft for the metro ones so not far out at all.

Ok so did some spanner swinging this afternoon. And pulled the old brakes off and installed the new hubs discs and calipers. Oh and renewed the cv and inner joint gaters they were starting to crack.

Passenger side great everything cleared.

The drivers side needed the steering arm flashing removing for clearance... Also had to tap the start of the thread on the supplied boosts as they wouldn't take. Kad machine them down from larger bolts but one of them just wouldn't start.

So after modding everything I just need to connect up the calipers, fit the pads and bleed the system, something it telling me it's going to be fun...
