hi what sort of power can be achieved with the standard metro t3 turbo i know it all depends on engine spec but i would like around 140-50 bhp just want to know if the T3's capable of this? Thanks

Easy mate. I was planning on around 170 with mine which has been done. Depending upon how well the engine is built it could see a little more if you wanted it to.

Yes they are quite capable of 150bhp

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Somewhere around 17psi is the planned boost pressure. The engine could have more or less power, but it's how it feels and drives on the road which is more important, I'm not going to run at that boost all the time, probably drop it to around 13-14 for daily use. Whatever feels comfortable really. Bear in mind I'm planning on running this on a 1380 so it's going to bring the spooling up time lower down. Might be a bit laggy still on a 1275/1293 but it all depends on what you're after.

North of the Netherlands

Remember his setup is quite different from the 'ordinairy'; he has the turbo over the clutch housing.

well lotus used exactly the same turbo and they designed the system for the metro. That should give you an indication of what the turbo's capable of

Standard T3, but as above, it has a different manifold.

No they did not, yes it was a T3 but both the turbine and compressor size is different to the Metro T3.

Doesn't benross run a t3?

The correct spec t3 is more than capable of making a mini shift very quickly...

just somthing to chuck in....

the metro t3 is getting a bit hard to find now, so its not a bad idea to use the t3 form the RS turbo, bit bigger exhaust turbine, so boosts a bit later, but will ultimatly make more power, and theres still quite a lot about.

If you go down this route you will have to cross pollinate with a metty turbo. For instance the wastgate, elbow etc from an rs wont fit

have a look at the map, that horizontal line is 15 psi boost ,and the lbs/hr along the bottom can, very roughly, equated to 1 lbs =10 bhp .

so at 15 psi its at 65% efficiency at around 180 bhp. that's about as low as you really want to go efficiency wise .

I'm confused with reading those, but if the numbers are correct as you say Robert, I could well end up with more than I bargained for at 17psi! Good job I have a cossie 4x4 cooler to fit!
