evening.

i'm after any advvice as to where you can buy custom length braided hoses? (for internal fuel & brake lines and a few other purposes here and there throughout the car)

so, who does them?

i have nipped to demon tweeks a few weeks ago and have been assured that they can order them direct from goodridge (i give them the lengths and coupling sizes needed and they arrive like magic)

i'm just weary that it'll cost more than the rest of the project put together so would like to get a few more quotes first.

cheers, dave

at the moment its looking like i need approx 4 or 5 meters of braided hose (with various couplings along the way)

i'm hoping to have every brake line section in the car braided...

i've mapped them all out and noted the lengths of each, just the couplings left to find out about...

i'm taking a car from the metro vented set up down to 7.5 S brakes to run 10's and so i need to do away with the main central brake valve since it has the outlets for the two lines running to a metro caliper

i've PM'd "iain" and hope to get a rought quote from him, problem is i plan to have the car ready for combe :$

i was going to go the same route, but have decided to use copper pipes, running through the car now.

everyone i spoke to about it reckoned that with a fully braided system, the brakes feel spongy and vague...??

From my personal experience that is bollocks.

My track car is fitted with a bias pedal box and aeroquip lines all the way from the master cylinders to the brake calipers.

The brake pedal is akin to standing on a brick, e.g. it hardly moves. The harder you press, the harder it stops. It certainly is not spongy or vague.

What's the advantage of braded pipes throughout?

Surely they are heavier than kunifer (sp) pipe?

So it's just for show then.

You should have done it all in a nice shiny colour like red or something.

you also need to be a big spedner to run it through out, where as copper will cost you £4 or so

Yes. I'll vouch for that, the aeroquip is expensive, as are all the fittings. I think I spent £180ish on aeroquip for my track car.........but the advantage, you only buy it once, and the ends are all re-useable.

can someone explain how aeroquip lines fix onto things like carb connections etc which normally have a push on fit, i take it they do all thread sizes i need a front brake pipe made up any idea what size the connections are?

No point using proper aeroquip on carb lines. Pressure no where near high enough to warrant it, the standard lines just stay on with PUSH on connections!

Front brake lines are 3/8UNF into caliper but you need a special union to fit the subframe. To be honest for the price you can buy these off the shelf I wouldn't arse about getting one made up, just order yourself one from a Mini specialists.

Minipart.co.uk does front to rear lines as well as every other line, i just bought a clutch master to slave hose with banjo ends, VERY high quality hose, stainless fittings (inc. banjo bolts) perfect fit and only £8!
I think the front to rear hose is about 20 quid, and he does front os to ns braided which i will be purchasing shortly,
Highly recomended by moi..

We run all our hoses in the f1s in braided hose, and clutch lines. Wouldn't use it fully on a road car, fuel lines are serious overkill when copper fuel lines do the job just as well.

Brake lines all the way in braided. Several places will make them up for you, speedflow hoses do a good deal, they advertise in most car mags. We just make our own though.

dont you need a real powerful hydraulic tool to crimp the ends on?

it depends on the type of hose and fitting, the type we use have reusable fittings and can be made to any length. Some hoses have crimped ends, but we're a bit more low budget than that!!
