The Walbro 255 is even noisy used "in-tank" :(

skyline is a plastic tank under a boot floor, not a metal tank a few feet from the drivers seat :) Weldon do a nice noisy fuel pump if thats your thing. never found 044's to be that noisy?! especially if rubber mounted somewhere out the way.

I agree then lol...
That Bosch regulator is definitely better than two other regulators I tried in the past. The Bosch always seem consistent and I personally like the fixed pressure, little to no chance of drift.

Can I just ask

Can you install a internal pump externally?

Would a bosch 040 be ok for Nat Aspirated 150bhp A series Mini?

Also any disadvantages running a larger than needed pump, except current usage and noise?

Short of the pumps using the fuel as a Heat-soak (don't know if they do, but I imagine it's feasible) I suppose you can make them work.
The only reason I went for a 255 was I was planning on running 4.5 bar fuel rail (before I gave up on 5port efi) and also wanted the flow. The 255 is also exceptionally cost effective, and is more than enough for the boostiest of boosted a-series...

Would have to agree.

Fitted dozens to Subarus and noise is never even a concern. 044 is louder, but even those when mounted correctly arent bad.

With engine running no way would you hear either unless badly mounted and/or car has no soundproofing whatsoever.

You cannot use an in-tank pump externally.

And an 040 would support 500hp or so at fuel injection pressures....I'd guess maybe 6-700hp at carb pressures.
So might be a little overkill for only 150hp.

Walbro do a 190lph in tank if that's what you need, or they offer in-line versions too.

Thanks for the info.

I've bought a external bosch 044, thinking it was the same as the standard Turbo pump. I wanted the AN fittings, but my concerns how it's actually a lot bigger, 409g heavier and sounds to be overkill.

Maybe a should stick with the Standard Turbo pump?

Bosch do a smaller pump that has threaded fittings at both ends, not sure which part number it is though. Some googling would suggest the 979, M14 inlet and M12 outlet and much reduced flow compared to an 044

http://www.boschfuelpumps.com/ ( silly prices )

044 is probably 7-800hp at carb pressures lol

And 6-700 at efi pressures, also draws reasonable current at efi pressures compared to some pumps. At around 55-60psi mine draw about 11A each, this will rise as pressure rises

Walbro do some inline pumps too with threaded fittings.

And std metro turbo pump is same as a few cars of that area.

Vauxhall cavalier SRi etc, Golf GTi etc

Some other fitments will have a pus on inlet and threaded outlet if that suited better, but the above ones had push on both ends.

Yep the 979 looks slightly better. But still based around the 044, by the looks of it.

It's for my 7 Port fuel injected A Series.

Almost all the Bosch pumps are about same externally, same size etc. Or very close.

Obviously internals must vary massively though.

In a fairly stripped car, or if the pump is not mounted on suitable rubbers, they can be pretty loud

But mounted on soft rubbers and they noise is nothing to worry about.

I've two running all the time on my car, and the noise is very quiet.

On the other hand, a stripped out race Subaru I work at has one semi crudely mounted to an alloy boot floor infil ( on the underside ) with a jubilee clip and a thin bit of rubber around it, and the noise from it is pretty horrendous

Sounds like how mine is mounted. I have an alloy mount welded to my fuel tank with the pump solid mounted to it. Maybe my engine is too loud
