got mine delivered yesterday and was shocked to find it was actually ok, all mini mags have been shit recently good to see a half decent one and bonus points for the jap dude, handy working for hks eh!

means nothing to me...

What's HKS got to do with minis?

I NEVER buy Miniworld if there is a Nova-Toyota engined car in it. I'm just not interested. Lately they've been full of them.

I read it in WH Smiths,as you do, or in Daves case as you use to do!.

The race car look pretty impressive, injected with twin throttle boddies,a cr of 9.5 to 1 and a 310 degree duration cam(inlet/exhaust who knows?)

Claims 200 bhp, not 198 or 203 but 200 as they do.

Pretty trick though.

I bought a set of wheels off a guy with an integra Type R engine in his mini. What does this one in the mag look like?

Only guy i know with the Type-R mini is Tony Wells....???...???

It does ring a bell, but can't say why. Erm, lived near Essex/top right of the M25 way. Had an estate also. He sold me the revolutions.

yeah sorry that was a bit vague, i'm sure he could get more power than that though, garage delta got 210 bhp NA! he had some trick stuff too hollow cams titanium exhaust etc and his own programmable ignition, do rads work well in the boot though?

He could get more power for sure - if he knew why and how he couldn't get any more...

colin baines from 16vmini.co.uk has a type R engined mini as well, runs DTA, smoke grey with a white roof and pukka 13.6 minilites. Usually has a comedy roof rack on it. Built by watsons.

ah, Didn't know Colin was a Type-R owner aswell...

so's that one you beat at the showdown dave, the blue one you just see in that vid of one of your runs. It was running about 235bhp with DTA also. that was his first time up the strip though and managed to go 1st, 2nd, 5th on tha run

All i do know is these Vtec's should be a lot quicker for the power they'e throwing out.

Same for the XE's aswell... something just doesn't add up.

I have to agree with you on that one Mini1071s. I prefer PPC or some of the more specialist Motorsport magazines such as Race Car Engineering or Race Tech. Not much to do with Minis but the theory is all the same!

sure there is a market for a good quality "performance" mini mag. even if only bi-monthly or something...

I'll be completely honest here; there isn't the market for it anymore.
The times have changed, folks just aren't modding cars like they 'used to'.
How many members on here have got 'ICE installs'? A fair few i reckon - don't put any ICE in your mag, and you've killed a good percentage of your target audience.

Times are also 'a changing in the general world; the internet - and forums like this one, have taken a large chink off the magazines. So the mags have to appeal to a wider base. Personally, i think that a little more techical stuff could be good, but they also need to have set targets - eg ONE mint restored/ maybe slightly period modifed car; one Ice'd-up 998 (17yr old) racer's mini; and one 'tastefully modified' vehicle. Any other minis, can be whatever else there is - all the extremes/customs for example.

Tech reports - well If you do more in-depth tech features, you'll not get them read. Calvers stuff is a good example IMO - He can't make them too complex, they have to be read by peeps who work at BK aswell as those already with their Beng in Automotive Engineering.

Fact is - forums like this are the future. If you want technical - write a web-page, and share it with those who will be interested.

It dosen't cross at 5250RPM cos the torque and BHP are on different scales.
