Well I though I better as I have plans to do a few track days and top speed runs this year.

What a job it was! I used an oil thermostat as well as the oil temp take off, I used 10 jubilee clips! and what seemed to be meters or hose, it's taken me all day just to do it as room was tight and trying to route rubber oil pipes round in the shortest route isn't easy.

I just hope it gets used after all this work, probably only open twice a year LOL

whats your thermostat set at do you know? ive just got a 13 row i think, might be 10, put in without a stat at the moment, its amazing how much it cools the oil, hold the inlet and its hot, hold the outlet pipe and its alot cooler. probably coz mine is right behind the grille, no obstructions

I think its 74 degrees, which isn't reallt hot enough but it's better than nothing, won't make any difference on the cooling at low engine speeds as it bearly makes 70 degrees.
I that it you don't have a temp gauge? what i'd like to know is just how much in degrees drop does an oil cooler say 10 -13 row make? Any ideas people.

Hi Folks!

I used a sandwich plate with a 74?C thermostat built in. But I think that is too cool for the oil. I asked at Think Automotive if the have a different thermostat, and yes, the have one with about 90?C, which works very good in my Mini now.

Went for a drive with the new cooler, well after a long hard run with lots of boost the oil got to 80 degrees only. so at least i can now drive it hard for miles and miles now with out the odd short oil cool slow down breaks.

just thought i'd let you all know as some one might find it help full. the other thing is it's only a 10 row cooler!!!!!!!! so this mith of big 16 row oil collers needed is also wrong!

It's amazing what testing does rather than guessing*wink*

really want to get my oil temp gauge in to see what effect my cooler has, dependant on that i will get a thermostat, although they sound like a good idea. and 80deg sounds very safe

yes mate it's very safe, if any thing it might be a shade to cool, but we all change our oils regularly i guess so it shouldn't matter.
