At launch, the Metro GTa was the penultimate sporting model in the range: this brisk hatchback was powered by the 8-valve version of the 1.4-Litre K-series engine and served as a suitable replacement for the well-loved MG Metro 1300

The GTa was launched in 1990 with the new Metro range. It continued on the success of the Austin metro mark 2 GTa.

Near Daventry, midlands

i inspected a friends VDP engine from an 86 car, this had an MG cam and a STD (33*29) head. I had no inclination that it had been touched from new, i had been sitting in someones garage for around 10 years. My own GTA engine from an 89 car was identicle to the MG engine i have sitting in my garage.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

The GTa is the MG Metro Turbo, without the turbo. MG block but has the same suspension setup as the turbo. I believe it was the last sporty special addition.

depends on what year the engine was depending on what head ect, eg early stuff had 36 mm inlets than when they went unleaded some had 33 inlets some had 36 and that goes for all models.

i once pulled a 88 mg metro head which i new the car from new and had a 33mm inlets in it !!!!!!. with a 3.1 diff

Same suspension setup as a turbo? Didnt both torbu and non-turbo metros use hydrogas?

Makes me laugh when people sell "Metro turbo brakes" on ebay when all metros had vented four pots.

Whats going to break next!?

Perhaps said person was referring to Pre 85 metro as hogster suggested?

My 88 1.0 metro had exactly same setup as some i savalaged of an old turbo metro.

I was told last weekend that the Gta was one of the last austin shape metros, And it had all the same kit as the turbo because they were using all the leftover parts from the warehouse, They are actually a nice car, a mint one up the road was for salr for £500

Near Paris - France

I have been offered a VDP for 200£

I am now very excited about what I just red here because I first made the offer because of the 1275, then I thought about the brakes and it's quite cool.

Question by the way, does the front seats fit in a Mini ?

I can, depending on the state of the car, ride it for some time but I have been told it is not good looking and I am a little concerned about the Hydragas.

Anyway it would nicely do for stting up the engine before squeezing it in my Mini. One thing at a time kind of business
