Is it normal for quite alot of clutch judder and a squeeky noise on engagement? Seems to only happen above 2500rpm...Maybe the thrust bearing??

The car seems to be an orchestra of sounds....Straight cut gears, dump valve and now the squeel of the paddle clutch!

People just look and think 'god that sounds knackerd'...ah well *happy*

My paddle clutch took a bit of getting used to when i first got it. but i was told they are more like like an on/off switch.

Glad to hear its normal, i was a little worried when I first started driving it this morning!

Theres definitely an art to setting off without squeel, but i'll get used to it!

lol, tell me about it, when i take people out in mine they look at me bewildered when it squeals and judders, i was told it is like an on/off switch but i have a bit of slip, itsnot actually as bad as i thought it would be.

Theres definitely a very small amount of slip, enough to make a slow set off a quiet one...Just!

It made me laugh, I had just got my KFC drive-thru yesterday and was leaving the car park, with a group of lads stood next to their Impreza looking on in interest....Then I set off and got 'SQUEAL'....They must of thought 'what a bag of nails'!

Is the paddle clutch the only option for big power? I'm talking 200bhp...

This all sounds odd, Ive run 3 paddle plates over the last 7 years and never had any squeal or judder.
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Its funny you should say that, as i have just been in contact the MED and they said they are not familiar with the squeel noise either?

So if it is normal for paddle clutches to squeel, then what is it that is causing the noise?

It occurs as you let off the clutch when you reach biting point.

In my experience, the noise always disappears if you add a couple of squirts with decent synthetic oil on the plate. I've never had a problem with noise after this tbh.

I see...But is what causing this noise? I'm baffled by the fact that the likes of MED are not aware of any squeel noise with the paddle clutch, yet quite a few guys here clearly do have squeel...What is causing it?

i have thought about this and decided that the only logical explaination is clutch faries are the cause, the squeel as they are squished.
