For those who care here's a couple of pics of what I was up to:

This was the worst day, at one point I accidentally boarded off a 3 foot drop off, gave up boarding after lunch and headed for the pub.

An this was the "best" day absolutely baking only problem was the runs got quite cut up and slushy by the end of the day.

cant beat a good boarding holiday!!

think someone should arrange a little TM run. everyone drives their pride and joy over to the alps and spends a nice week boarding before driving back again.

turbo mini's, snowboarding, pubs (sometimes!) and a load of people who you can have a laugh with......could it get any better.... *happy*

cant wait to go boarding again!

It will be like the Top Gear supercar for under £10k challenge, there will be a collection of broken down Turbo Minis all over France and none of us will make it!

Anyway here's my latest piccy of the car:

For those who care, the rad is a Metty item, the IC is a Cossy one (2WD I think) the fan is MPI one (it only one I could find that clears the front end).

EDIT: You can just about see the engine behind all that!

Unfortunately Joe the bike fans really do seem to be marginal on being able to shift enough air. There is one on the DON but it struggles.

I think I'll stick with the MPI fan and see how it goes.

Here's the front from a slightly different angle.

Now finished the rad brackets (red oxide rods) thanks to Carl for the cap head bolts.

Had to kink one of the rods to clear the hose, but I think it'll be ok.

Unfortunately the top hose fouls on one of the steadies, hope fully I can cure this with a custom hose.

Fan clearance is a bit tight for my liking only about 1/4" I think I'll trim the front end a bit more and move the rad back slightly to give me a bit more clearance.

Smart Guy!

mainland europe near ze germans

I made it to CHX in my mini..( it was a stock 998 though).
Oh and i got my pic taken with the car and it ended up in the US Patagonia catalog (got a discount on a hardshell jacket for my efforts. it still cost a bundle)

Brevant looks pretty there btw.

oh it is not easier add a bend in the steady to clear the hose, instead of a custom hose.

does the rollcage come notched or do you have to do that your self?

Off to the shot blasters:

Not much to say really, other than I've now got a bit of space in the workshop.

Now back from the blasters, some what lighter. Apparently the paint on the roof was 4mm thick in places & as it was stripped (roof was the only bit that wasn't blasted) it went every colour known to man as the various layer were removed. The shell isn't the prettiest but it's solid which is the main thing in my opinion.

The cage needs to be notched, I'm currently wait for Roger to get a bit of spare time so I can make use of his skills & tools to fit the cage.

Rob im using a Spal rad (believe its the same as the MPI's use) and it flows 1047 cfm and works a treat. *wink*

My rad is smaller than yours and with the fan on the engine temps just continue to drop until the thermostat kicks in!

It cost me £250 to get it blasted & primed in 2K by a local blasters just round the corner from where I keep the car. I had one company quote me £150 but the wanted the car for a month and kept delaying when I could drop it off.

Seems resonably priced.
Was it etch primed after being blasted or just red oxide?

It's marine primer, which is normally sprayed on to narrow boats and the like and is designed to be sprayed directly on to bare metal. The chap who blasted it gave me the empty paint tin, I'll dig out the details on saturday when I'm next at the workshop.

No real progress on the clubby, I had a bit of a blitz on the Bloody Open classic to get it back on the road for the summer, then sent the clubby off for blasting, I had hoped to send the clubby to the blasters whilst I was sorting BOC but the original blasters mucked me around.
