Slightly O/T my 1380 rally car

drove to douglas to get a fanbelt, got back tot he garage went to put it on, and the fella has mixed up the part number with the length i had asked for and given my one far far too short, so went back, (about a hours round trip....groan) and got the right one

with mattys nippon denso master, a 837mm belt is perfect, you can only just get it on so keeps the alt right in near the block, motoquip part no 215 if that helps anyone.


also got the fan belt/engine mount clearance sorted, as per the other thread managed to tilt the bracket over a bit to give an extra 2 or 3mm, happy with it now



also made up a new alternator slide as my old one was an abortion

so using my best cave man skills, i crafted another out of 3mm steel, then sprayed it with alloy wheel silver to make it look lighter haha





started to throw a few of the edis bits and bobs round the engine bay to see where might be a tidy place to mount it all, but nowhere felt quite right, gonna have a search on here tonight to see what other have done

didnt get round to relocating the cut of switch, will do it tomorrow, couldnt be arsed doing any more tonight tbh, so called by the co op and picked up 8 bottles of peroni, yum

Ive got one of those fuel filters. I had it unsrew itself once and wondered why i was getting really low MPG and a strong smell of fuel.

looked to be made of a nylon though and the cage was transparent rather than white? think the quality must vary from supplier to supplier??

sturgeo, not much to update really, it runs on limp home mode, but i struggled to get the mj to work when plugged in, so gave up and had so much other stuff on since, its just gathered dust :(
