Get it built Paul!

It will be built over the coming winter, NA to start with but eventually boosted 10psi and 140hp.

I just uploaded that to show what could, in theory, be done with 1000cc.

I don't think I would trust the 850 crank at 130 ftlbs.

I don't know.

Used the same method on my 998 Turbo and that came up with 125hp at 12psi. The RR day will reveal all.

Wicked. There was a 52mm crank that I saw go a while ago for about £140. Bloody useless thing, but you could probably spin it. I think it had S ends and bigger than normal mains. Paul Ivey job. They do come up from time to time.

Surely Bill Richards was involved with hyper revving 850's. Someone must have something to add about them.

Nev Trickett was mucking about with roller bearing cranks, titanium rocker gear and other technology nicked off racing bikes back in the day. Cutting pistons down, making his own cam profiles.

I'd love to see a turbo 16v with a 52mm crank.

I think you could get a 41mm to get 1000cc out of a BDA. nuts things

O/T - I make short stroke cranks/long rods for the 2.0l Duratec to bring them down to 1600cc - mainly for the Irish rally boys as a destroked 2.0l carries more inherant strength than a balls out 1.6 Sigma engine. So these little 1.6 strokers make 210+bhp at 9800rpm and run to a limit of 10600 just like a modern day BDA!

I'll make whatever stroke mini crank/length rods you like but it'll cost you!

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

01smartc, I think you should perhaps start a new thread in the 998 section about your planned engine. It is a genuinely interesting project and something a few of us here have looked at (maybe not to quite the limit you are looking).

Some people on here are cynical and that is perhaps because they have some turbo experience. It seems that you have good engine experience, but making a good turbo engine means a rethink on my long held engine principals. To turbo a standard engine is easy and at low psi good results can be got. However, start talking race engines and many of the NA bits have to be revisited.

Anyway start a new thread and lets see where it takes us.
