My choice of free AV is Avast. I find that AVG slows computer down too much. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I already run Avast and find it very good. I previously used AVG but one of its updates completely screwed the machine. Again a complete hadr drive rebuild and installed AVG then updated straight away for the exact same thing to happen, on a fresh un infected system!!! That pissed me off and pushed me towards Avast.

Can Internet Explorer find your favourites? You can always import favourites from IE into Firefox :/ |

Firefox bookmarks are stored in a 'bookmark.html' file in the firefox default profile directory. It should be a matter of finding the old bookmark.html file and copying it to your new system, to the same location. Or. There are also back up bookmark.html files, these are date stamped and have a .json extention, found in the firefox default profile directory in the Backupbookmark directory. You just need to take a copy of that file, rename it bookmark.html and paste that into the firefox default profile directory

On topic, Please bear with me as I have not read the whole topic, so if this is irrelevant, that will be why
I have had to replace my wireless router twice now as the wireless portion stopped working propperly. The PC was always trying to aquire an IP address from the DCHP, but always failed even though the wireless signal was full strength, the second was a sort of combination of the DCHP failure and the wireless portion dropping out the signal. Ethernet connection on both worked as they should. I am on my third Wireless router now in, ooh let me think, must be at least 5 years now. And anotherone bites the dust!! Exactly the same problem with wireless connection - Full strength signal, but DCHP not responding or connecting. ethernet works fine. This will now be my fourth Wireless router! That one lasted less than 12 months and I cannot find the recipt!! On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Have you tried updating the frimware and software on the router? Chances are there are updates to help with that sort of problem. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:
