Short gearing rarely helps a car with some power.


At the end of the day....you need tyres/grip. Its as simple as that. Taller gearing usually helps, as it actually reduces the torque at the wheel.

But with very good tyres, you could almost launch WOT and it grip. Although that is bloody harsh on everything else !

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Those ex-jf tyres you sold me and Andy did alright on the van Tom. Completely nuked the pair though in 10 runs! 2.38 was best 60ft and that was with the super short 1st gear.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

3.9, but with a gearset similar to challenge ratios, so a very long 1st gear.

Remember that it revs to 9200rpm though, if it didn't have that rev range then it would without a doubt run out of revs before the 1/4 mile mark.

i think my best time for sunday was 13.749 and saturday was 13.65 so was 0.2sec better than last year and the only real change was going from a nackered MG metro cam to a ph2 cam
